they tried playing two refs in a friendly once, needless to say it didnt work, too many conflicting opinions, footballs not a democracy :p: but i agree a video ref would be a good idea
Well no, you can't have two refs. There needs to be one official in charge of the game. However that doesn't mean the ref can't use more assistants/assistance

Here's just a few of Lawro's quotes from this tournament that I've managed to remember. I'm sure there were hundreds more, but these are off the top of my head...

    (Original post by Mark Lawrenson)
"For a game played in Cologne, it stank."
    (Original post by Mark Lawrenson)
"He doesn't know if it's New York or New Year."
    (Original post by Mark Lawrenson)
"The wall's at least ten yards back - plus VAT!"
    (Original post by Mark Lawrenson)
"Look at Barthez - he doesn't know whether to stick or twist!"
    (Original post by Mark Lawrenson)
"This game is a lot like your house, John; there's nothing in it".
    (Original post by Mark Lawrenson)
(Referring to a Lampard free kick which went straight into the wall). "Argubly, he struck it too well".

yeah, you never know, Seems to me though that Sheffield have only one premiership standard player in Jagielka. The rest of the team seem very mediocre or just old. Has Craig Short retired?

    Short, Deane and Flitcroft retired.

Tonge and kenny could be premiership standard and maybe Webber. Jagielka didn't even have that much of a good season last season. 1 player doesn't make a team and we showed that last season in the championship.

WHAT????? You are joking right, please tell me you are joking...

He got voted man of the match for the final and semis. He also ranked the third best player in the tournament by journalists!! I think he has been outstanding and i also feel you must have had your eyes closed when Italy were playing.
I agree with all of that. He was outstanding, without ever being spectacular. I'm sure he'll be on a few shopping lists this summer.

Despite this, John Motson managed to pronounce his name wrong in EVERY SINGLE GAME. Surely somebody must have tapped him on the shoulder at some point and said 'errr, actually Motty, it's Peerlo, not Perlo."

The most annoying part is that the co-commentator always mimmics what Motson says. Double the fun!
