try to find 'mispositioned' players. players who's position for their side doesn't match, as such, the position on the team thing. in the world cup one, ronaldinhio was listed as a forward, when, although he does go forward, he was essentially a midfield player. on the other hand, players like cristiano ronaldo, who were listed as midfield, but ended up playing further forward, are always a cheap buy.

Always make sure, when picking defenders, that you pick the most attacking ones for a club where possible. Wing backs over centre backs, unless its a centre back who is likely to score alot, either set pieces or comes forward alot.

And don't pick defensive midfielders, in general. I don't mean the distributing type, like carrick, i mean more like makalele etc, whos main responsibility is to play in front of the defence, but are midfielders. they simply wont pick up the points for their work.

    Juve admit guilt?

I know it's old, but surely by saying a demotion to the 2nd division would be acceptable they are admitting guilt, and therefore should face the strongest penalty available?

Would be so good if they got sent to the 3rd division, would love it.

Yeah sounds like they admit guilt but by doing so you'd think they'd get a reduced penalty.

Shouldn't be the case though, as surely the judge must know that is the only reason they would be doing so. He must have already had a punishment in his mind for if they were found guilty, and that should be the punishment delivered when it is proven that they are guilty.

hmm. your right, it shouldnt be the case but it probably will be. Its the same kind of thing with criminal law in this country, if you admit guilt you can expect a less harsh sentence.
I know its different and I would love them to get sent down 2 divisions

Same with any sort of legal case, plead guilty and get a reduced sentence, i presume because it saves the court a lot of time and hassle...

    Aye!

No doubt they will just get 10 points docked from them for the coming season, but I think there is a strong possibility that they will be going down still. Would love it to be the case, just for the excitement of all of the bidding wars that would break out for their players

    Ditto,
Though like you said I expect Juve will get docked a few points and the other clubs will get a big fine and that'll be it.

I don't think they will be relegated so low. Many of the star players can leave italy then and their football industry will suffer heavily.

Yeah but if you have Lampard, Henry, Gerrard, Emre etc in your team, how the hell are you going to stick to your budget?

Its a shame to say but i think its true, it hasnt by any means been sudden, over the last 10 years the change has been dramatic.

TV times used to be 3 o clock kick off, now there are hardly any, most clubs tickets are very expensive as it is and forever rising, ticket allocations for coorporats is going up and up (look at previous FA Cup finals), standing at matches is prohibitted, travel on matchday is hiked up to increase profits and many more examples.

Without the football fans football wouldnt exist, simple. I think its a shame because there is too much love for the game to actually inspire any action, i wouldnt throw away my season ticket. It just seems that money counts for more than passion and in a sporting environment, with football loved throughut the Uk this is not the way it should be.

I started this post after is saw this on the Guardian website:

By Jason Deans / Television 05:53pm

It's official: Sky Digital and NTL customers will have to subscribe separately to Sky Sports and Setanta to get all 138 live Premier League matches each season from August 2007.

Currently the cheapest Sky Sports package offering four channels - with other entertainment and movie services bundled in - is £20.25 per month, for the first three months (rising up to £42.50 thereafter) while subscribing to Setanta's seven channel package costs £14 a month.

This is just an example of how companies are trying the bleed the fans of every penny. They are basically stopping companies monoplising TV rights by dividing it out so you have to pay for separte channels. Its a joke.

that 'straitjacket and cloak of adventure' wasn't used in the final was it? I'm pretty certain it was used in a game in the quarters or semi finals....
Well seeing as I only watched the final and on BBC...

Yeah, i definately agree with that. Clubs don't realise that they're bleeding their fans dry. The fans are too loyal to their clubs and continue to pay the high prices - A sad example of price inelasticity of demand...

Andy Gray isn't a prick, and the play-by-play guy from ITV isn't bad (can't remember his name).

Damn, we could've started a "John Motson haters society" during the world cup :whip

The commentators on ITV are crap and so is the picture quality. The pitch was a nice green colour on BBC and a murky green on ITV
