childcare grant question

hi guys, i sent my ccg1 form in august and after calling them last friday the lady sais they are waiting for my ccg2 form, which i never received from them.so i downloaded and sent one on friday.couple of questions:

is it true they will not pay childcare grant until after receiving the ccg2 form?

how long does it take after sending the ccg2 form would they normally pay?

would they backdate it from the first term as i have been paying for my sons nursery?

its allconfusing:confused:

The questions you are asking cannot be answered easily as this is the first year that student finance england have been responsible for processing application forms

However, you are entitled to reimbursed for 85% of your childcare costs as long as they do not exceed ÂŁ300 per week (that is for more than one child. I forget the maximum for 1 child at the moment)

I imagine that the childcare grant you have been paid so far will only be for one term or part of one term so in that sense, you will not receive any more until your CCG2 has been processed

You will need to call or email the special support team at SFE and ask them their current timescales for processing CCG2 forms

thanks a lot,i paid for one term yes,all from personal funds, hopefully it should all be sorted in january.will find out from them,i dont have their email though

Call directly on 01325 215194. They should have paid you the advance payment for term one on childcare, with the CCG2 to confirm.

Hi, i sent my application in sep (late applicant) recorded next day delivery. However it was only opened and processed in December so my CCg2 says as we received your CCG1 after Nov the something i think we need proof as to what you have paid!, its ridiculous going to ring them tomorrow as they haven't even given me anything for childcare also the fact that they have had it since sep and now there saying its my fault as they received after the nov deadline!!!! its so stressful.

Don't panic.

This is the standard procedure:

A student estimates their childcare costs using a CCG1 form

3 x CCG2 forms need to be submitted throughout the year to prove you are using a childcare provider and how much you are paying them

It just sounds like SFE are behind schedule and will be ignoring any CCG1 forms and just paying you on the information given on the CCG2 forms

I rang the direct number, as I had not recieved any of my grants and some silly women on the 0845 number told me that I still had to prove that I had been financialy independant for three years - I DONT have to you are automatically independant if you have a child! Silly woman!
Anway, I rang the direct number, spoke to a lovely man who sorted everything out and its now been sent to be approved!!
With regards to your childcare grant, you wont have to send in a CCG2 form in to SFE until Jan now, then another in April and a final one in the summer after the final term of the year.
Ring the direct number as the assessors actually know what their talking about just to make sure though.
Hope this helps x

I called SF and the man said my Childs birth certificate is now with the specialist support team and didnt give me a time frame ..does anyone know how long for the PLA and CCG it takes when its with the specialist support team..im hoping it wont be long

Although SFE are finally catching up with their backlog, I believe that the SST are quite small (only 15 members of staff in the summer!)

Hopefully it won't be too long as they may have recruited and trained more staff and should also be making progress with their backlog now

Hi,
Im still waiting for my CCG, but I am in the proces of recieving my PLA after numerous phone calls!
But im VERY concerned about my CCG, they have told me to call back next week to check its progress but im going to ring everyday! I was also advised to send off a CCG2 form aswell by the end of the month so that it will be processed quicker or something . . . I though this was a confirmation of costs after you had paid them using the grant??
Anyway, you should be able to get your PLA if they have all the information required . . .its the CCG that is taking aggeess!!
 Good luck

Hi guys,
For those of us that are still waiting for our childcare grants.
I sent an emailed complaint to student finance before xmas explaining my situation and the incredibly poor and delyed service that I had experienced . . .yesterday I recieved a reply. My loans and grants (except my CCG) have been fast tracked, I will get my grants next week and my loans the week after guaranteed.
As for the CCG the lady said that they are currently in the process of processing CCG2 forms and that even if your CCG1 is processed you still would not recieve your grant until they have your CCG2.
So if like me you are still waiting send in your CCG2 NOW!!
Hope this helps

CCG1 is for estimates at the start of your course

If SFE were on track (rather than being months behind schedule) they would have been paying out some grants based on the CCG1

However, as the deadline for the first CCG2 has been and gone then I can see why SFE are playing it this way

The second CCG2 is to be completed by your childcare provider at the end of January and returned to SFE

FYI the third CCG2 does not need to be returned until after the summer holidays

i called them today and they said they are working on week beginning 21st december for ccg2 forms ,i told him i sent mine off 18th december(for the first deadline) ,then he said that date is an estimate and it shouldnt be no more than 2 weeks for payment as i sent my sons birth certificate directly to the processing team..i guess its just a waiting game

Reply 16

finally childcare and pla has been awarded BUT only if i send in the second ccg2 form.do they pay this ccg per semester e.g when they pay now would it be for the first and second semester? anyone knows how it works? thanks
