i wanna do stuff with myself

There's more than one question here really

I really want do well, and I know i'm clever enough, but I always feel a step behind the top in most things, and whenever I improve, someone new suddenly appears who is even better. What can I do to correct this so that I really am at the top?

I want to be more confident. What can I do to achieve that?

I also get urges to paint myself sometimes. Is that normal? Does anybody else get that?

You'll never be at the top. But if you work harder you'll be a lot closer.

Paint yourself? As in, paint on your skin or draw a pic? If you wanna paint on your skin I recommend tattoos.

lol the name of title of this thread is a bit misleading...
so u feel as though you are an underachiever, have you thought about alking to others about how they feel when they "get to the top"? whether they are cool with that or whether they feel surprised? it may be just that you need to get that final little bity of determination and say "I WILL ACHIEVE THIS"

on the other hand, theres no point in feeling disappopinted if you don't reach the top all the time, it's just makin you put urself down. not helathy. but hope you wok it out, wateva happens.

as for the urge to paint urself, is there something you wish was different about urself that maybe u wud prefer to the way u presently appear to others? physically or personality wise.

hope this helps neways, luv ya hun

Why aren't you confident? Give us an example, then maybe we can try and help. With meeting new people and that kind of stuff, or..?

Aim high and try your best. But if you can't achieve what you want, don't beat yourself up! Find out what you did wrong, and try again. Persevere. I always think of improving as an achievement, rather than being at the top.

Confidence comes from achieving but it also depends on how you see yourself. Believe in yourself, but also be nice to yourself when you fail. Everybody falls at some point in their lives, it's not the end of the world.

Not sure about your last question. Do you mean you wanna draw on yourself???

In the words of Marge Simpson - Aim low, so low that when you do achieve something nobody notices - or something like that anyway. Or watch that film 'Cool Runnings', that'll give you some good advice on how to improve your confidence.

we all have such dirty minds ...

Well, just try and concentrate on one things, you can't be the best at everything, that is demanding too much of yourself probably. just try and concentrate on getting good marks in the subjects that interest you most and that you enjoy learning for.
at least I think you are talking about school...
I have no idea what you mean about the paint thing,... maybe if you explained your post a bit more people could help you better

You can't always be the best at everything, it is a fact of life. Some people can do certain things better than others for a various number of reasons. What you can do is try your best and it does appear that you are doing so.
Without any clear examples of what you feel you are falling short on, its hard to say what to do though, but if you do find you dont do something as well as somebody else, there is no shame in that and certainly no reason to get sad over it.

 The fact that it's been posted in H&R really doesn't help! Probably more of a General Chat topic than relationships. Ahhhh this thread properly made me laugh.

Anyway, seeing as I'm posting here I should probably say something useful  There's always going to be someone better than you. Just don't compare yourself to other people but rather to your own standards. If you've worked as hard as you possibly can, they you have done best.

ok i don't know if you mean academically but anyhow: I'm noticably top of my classes in psychology and biology, and among the top achievers in chemistry and german. (no this isn't me showing off, I go to an appalling school so you lot would beat me if you were in my classes)

Being top isn't that great, people are always so jealous it's unbelievable. And if I'm worried about an exam, I get told "Ha if you're going to do badly the rest of us have failed/ shut up you'll blatently get an A", or "Urgh you're going to ace this, I hate you!" In lessons I've been asked by teachers after they explained something: "Do you have anything to add Lucy?" (my names lucy btw). As you get better and better you set yourself higher goals that typically you won't achieve and will feel disappointed. If you're really clever and underachieve in terms of how well you could have done, you can't complain because other people did so much worse. I'm sure there are other -ve things.

However hard you try, someone will always be better somewhere (unless you're the best) Just do you're best and you might even surprise yourself when you improve. I used to be seriously unknowledgable in years 1-4 at primary school, and I was told i was really lucky to get into the top maths group in year 7, yet at secondary school, I always tried my best and that's all anyone can recommend.

Painting yourself, when do you feel this urge?
