    Hello.
I would like to sell my toshiba laptop satellite pro a60 for 400 quid, add 300 quid and get centrino or apple laptop. I was wondering what should I buy. Can you provide links for me and suggest what laptop should i buy plz?
I want a laptop with a good battery life, approx 4 hours, good graphics for plauing average games and centrino processor if it is PC.I dont really care about the size of the screen. 14 inches is ok.

an apple ibook wud cost u around $900 odd. Now thats a decent price for an apple. But if you could sacrifice on the brand ....u can get urself a fully loaded dell centrino for just as much. i just bought a dell centrino for $900, 1.6 GHz, 1 GB ram, 80 GB hdd with an 8x-dvd writer. Its a 14.1' XGA screen and awesome value for money.

since u want a centrino, it might be a bit more expensive as its a new processor just out. But this laptop is very good: http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...duct_uid=90504

That would work well for what you describe. It has a fast processor and plenty of RAM and it should be able to play a few games.

I would go for a Centrino based machine but I think you've already decided that. From now on, unless you desperately need a Mac, I'd wait till the Intel Mac machines come out.

    Apple are still too dear.
If I had to get an Apple it would have to be the powerbook rather than the ibook.
    For a 15" one though - £1500

Get a normal centrino which does exactly the same as airport! And you will get more for your money.

I've weighed your dilemma up a few times within my own position and still opted for against Apples because of a) cost & b) nobody has nowhere near enogh to start pirates going nicely! The software isn't as readily available amongst mates.

Goddamn, just go on P2P! Or from eBay you can get copies of Mac software for £5 a disk! Hardly bank breaking!

PCWORLD now has the 12" apple for £600. I suppose you could hook it upto a 17 or 19 inch tft monitor (£120 ish) for home use and have a hell of a combo.

Lol, I'm almost toying with getting one so I *have* to leave most of the games behind...then I might not get fired within 3 weeks!

Silly question - will USB2/Firewire external hard-drives work with Apples?

    ^ Yes

And from my earlier post in this thread, I now have an Apple Powerbook! when I stated I wouldn't get one. It was the temptation you know.
