    I need to get work experience for medicine, but all the volunteer posts and jobs i can find on the net need a police check - anyone know how i can get one done?

    i thought they do it automatically. They do for some jobs anyway

    some do, but im told that it takes up to 2 months... :confused:

    You need to ask the place, as they need to provide some details so it's free if you're volunteering. If you're not volunteering then you have to pay. And it takes about 6 weeks, but it can be longer in busy times.

    I did a police check for my work. Luckily, it was a job as a student mentor at my uni and South Bank uni and the uni paid for the police cheque. Then you have to fill out a form and sign it. For us, the police check was immediate I think, as we only gave in the forms little before we started work.

    yeh I had one when I was working with children, it was done through school though and they gave me the number to call etc and then its just a few forms to fill out, if you ask the place you are going to get work experience or the person organising the work experience then they should be able to help you sort it out

    you can get one from the criminal record bureau it's called a crb check funnily enough...it depends sometimes they take a week sometimes 6 there's no reason for it really but you're either lucky or not. just apply asap.
