    All this kazaa stuff made me think of something.

    The only way the record companies can get hold on your details is by forcing the ISP to give it up. Well, then theres no real problem. Just use a node based network, where you adress messages through a unique adressing system where the IP adresses are only used for comunication between two nodes. That way theres no **** you can do if someone uploads say a thousand files. Its only feasable to get hold on the IP of the node closest to you, and since the virtual IP adresses are set by the program, theres noone they can force to give them the details unless the program has been written in such a way to support this ( and we are not gonna do that of course )
