    Yep I know the reason why, but can't explain it in full here at the moment (champagne...) anyway, its the same reason here with the Hermann Grid (attached) you concentrate on a certain part of the grid, such as the centre so parts of your retina becomes 'fatigued' and ignores some bits....you try! Look at the grid and see the small grey dots at each junction, but when you concentrate on one, it disappears, but the others remain...you try and tell me if it works!

    I've done loads of research into optical illusions before, and that's just what they are

    well, i had a great time and met a few famous people:eek:

    the work in itself was rather boring though, but the atmosphere was brilliant:yy: (they had just run out of their grant y'see....)

    I learnt a fair bit about synaesthesia and visual processing

    Concentrate on just one of them for a second then move to another one etc and if you keep your eyes moving they should start spinning
