I actually preferred teaching myself, as I could 'cheat', lol, and not use proper fingerings on the piano...

I mean stuff like work on posture, hand position, balancing of notes, getting a decent tone etc

Many teachers just think they've got it right, but unless they've been taught by a very good teacher then they won't have.
