Wrong forum. In fact, entirely wrong website. Generally you should be asking the developers, who in this case are Sports Interactive, who have an official FM board.

Yeah, wrong forum, but in the mean time let's see if we can help.

I made the rather elementary mistake when buying 2009 from an upgrade of 2008 of getting the min system requirements wrong. :facepalm2: 2008, fine, but it jumped quite a bit the following year and I didn't anticipate the leap when I ordered it (with some haste, one might add). So, first off, check the system requirements.

Second, if there's no issue there, might be an idea to do as ozzyoscy suggests and head over to the FM forums for typical error messages, or simply Google in general.

I'm sure you'll get it sorted soon enough.

If anyone else can shed any light on this it would be lovely. Not sure it will get moved very quickly tbh so our Footie population, who play the game quite a bit anyway, would be kindly asked to help.

As has been said, best bet for advice is to ask at http://community.sigames.com/

Well, umm, it doesn't install Steam. I can't remember if it's exactly the same with FM2010, but with FM2009 you were given two choices for installing the game - either you had to connect to the authentication servers of a company called Uniloc which would check to make sure your game hadn't been installed more than X times (3? 5?) and then you could play to your heart's content but you had to have the disc in the drive to play. Alternatively, if you didn't want to have the disc in all the time, you could register the game with Steam (which you'd have to install separately) and then use Steam to install and run the game. In that case you don't need to have the disc in the drive, but Steam must be running in order for you to play it.
