sme ere i dont have a problem with muslim women wearing Hijabs......i just think people are stupid to think it is a major problem and they just make a big scene out of it...as they dont have anything else to do....Pathetic.....!
As long as I'm not preached at, I couldn't give two flying :snow::snow::snow::snow::snow: about any religion or what they do.

It's none of anyone's business who wears what as long as it has no negative affect on the majority.
Reply 4
Because it is representative of the loss of native culture and of the immigrant invasion. I don't mind nor care if Mohammaden women wear Mohammaden dress in Mohammaden lands, just don't do it here.
Reply 5
it doesnt bother me and tbh i dont se why it bothers other people
Reply 6
They are going by relevance to the dress code, that's the only problem I can see about it in that article.

But it doesn't bother me at all.

Cos they are French :yep:
It's only banned in schools in France.

I don't see a problem with it, although an argument could be made about women being forced to wear it.

now theres a good answer :mmm:
How is this any different to wearing a normal scarf?

we have nuns over here so its a bit hypocritical!
It's a preference, there is no problem if they wear it by choice which a lot of them do.

This has been done to death though, search for older threads and you'll see.
I'm not sure THAT MANY people (of the general population) make a fuss over it.

Personally, I don't like it, but I have a grudge against any man-made (note the word man :|) concept such as women 'covering up'.

But that's only because:
1) I don't believe Allah demanded it,
and 2) Because the wearing of them is a constant reminder of the control people are able to demand over others just by proclaiming God wants it. And then they remind me of the pretty sick :snow::snow::snow::snow: some people do in the name of God. And then I'm cross and need to eat some crisps AND I DON'T WANT TO PUT ON ANYMORE WEIGHT SO JUST TAKE THEM OFF FGS.

And the argument that it stops women being attractive to men (talking especially about the burkha here) and therefore stops them from being raped is bull.

RAPISTS ARE RAPISTS. THEY KNOW THERE IS A VAGINA UNDER THERE. THEY DON'T CARE IF THE WOMAN IS WEARING LEGGINGS, SHORTS, A BURKA OR A DONKEY COSTUME ok maybe not the donkey costume but I dont know, whatever floats your boat I suppose.

If this was true there'd be hardly any rapes in the middle east which obviosuly ISN'T THE CASE.

People can wear what they want. I'm far more annoyed by people wearing army uniforms, communist t-shirts... just the casual veneration of mass murder and oppression in general.

It's a symbol of female oppression.

But Don, who gets to decide the uniform standard culture of the lands?

Nothing wrong with wearing anything until it conflicts with well-intentioned rules. In a more general sense, while people can wear what they want, they must acknowledge that they wear it by choice and when you choose to do something you must also adhere to rules and laws while doing it (for example, the girl who took her school to court because her religious garment conflicted with health and safety rules). Simply saying it's "down to religion" is not an excuse for doing whatever you please. When you follow a religious tradition you are simply choosing to do something that is of value to you. If rule exceptions were made every time anyone chose to do something of value to them then the world would be a mess.

For example, in my lectures at uni there are some Muslim girls. They are frequently 20-30 minutes late for lectures. They come in, disturb everyone walking across the room collecting notes, annoy the lecturers and, often, cause the whole lecture to halt for them. Presumably the reason they are late with such frequency is that they pray. Now, prayer is their choice. Like any choice, if two things they wish to do conflict, they should prioritise. They should not insist on doing both to the detriment of others. If you must pray, skip the lecture and read up later. If you must attend the lecture, do not pray. Choosing to do both when it is so disruptive is obnoxious and selfish.

If I was late to the majority of my lectures because I had something else to do for the first half, I would no longer be allowed to study there. For some reason, though, the values and desires of those who are religious seem to be held in higher esteem than those of us who are not.

It's a symbol of female oppression.

Except the women want to wear them.
Rinsed
It's representative of a oppressive, male-dominated culture which so resents female independence that it tries to prevent its daughters going out, socialising and leading their own damn lives by putting extreme pressure on women cover up in a way which is, lets be honest, a pretty effective barrier to communication.

Hijab =/= Burqha
