I think I'm allergic to mosquito bites: whenever I'm bitten, the bites swell up to the size of satsumas and go really red. Not attractive.
However, I think I've just discovered a cure, and I wanted to point it out to everyone who suffers a similar affliction. Take 500mg of vitamin B1 (also known as Thiamin) every day for about a week before you go on holiday, and keep taking it for the length of the holiday. It worked for me.
You'll still get bitten, but the bites won't cause much of a problem: they won't swell, and they probably won't itch as much as normal.
Anyone else got any health-realted tips for fellow forumites about to embark on a foreign holiday?
Btw, tip number 2: Get travel insurance that allows you to pay the voluntary excess only, rather than paying everything and having to claim it back.
