It doesn't look like it's a virus or anything.

Have you been doing file-sharing?

Have you put anything new on your computer recently?

If you go to the control panel and go to add/remove programs can you see anything new there?

"... Alcune aree non sono visibili, clicca sula voce [login]. Argomento Windows / Sicurezza:
Virus, Dialer, Intrusioni / downloader trojan actalert (980 Accessi ... "

"actalert - actalert.exe - Process Information. Process File: actalert or actalert.exe
Process Name: ActAlert Description: Contact management solution tool. ... "

That's why I said that he should look in google.

I have done a bit of research now.

Check out this link:

http://www.pestpatrol.com/PestInfo/d/dyfuca.asp

See if you have any of those keys in your registry, don't delete anything yet, just see. It oculd be a virus.

Try a free online virus scan on www.symantec.com

I'll help you from the symantec website if you like.

Are you on a different forum as "Eternal God" out of interest?

thankyou for all of those comments...i did google but a lot of the pages looked a little dodgy and i thought that if it is a virus i have then the google link could also be one

anyway found a guardian article which has link to

http://www.doxdesk.com/parasite/

this shows me I have 5 in total "parasites" including "internet optimiser" which i think is the acalert one. It gives advice on what to do but im a little unsure, as i know little about computers and the internet and am also a bit paranoid when it comes to these things

i think i'm going to take a look at the site posted here but unless i can find a completely safe and easy way of getting rid of them, will just wait and get a mate around who knows more than me about them

thanks a lot

If you get stuck, ask away. It's just a case of deleting some infected files and some registry keys; shouldn't be too tricky.

You can trust it (http://www.doxdesk.com/parasite/ ).

oh man now i'm really confused

doxdesk says:

(for internetoptimiser this is)

"Removal
Check the Control Panel's Add/Remove Programs feature for 'Active Alert' and 'Internet Optimizer'. If these entries are there, using both should result in InternetOptimizer's correct removal. "

what does this mean, surely if i click add/remove then it will delete it?

is this what it means when it says "using both"?

i am sure you all have better things to do than help me but can you just tell me whether or not the parasites (or my trying to remove them) will really f up my computer:

adultlinks / qcbar
internet optimizer
moneytree / multidist
my search / mysearch
tiny bar / b

i am now in more of a panic than before cos when i clicked on the link for dostbox that eternalidol gave a box with error "are you sure you want to fun seekzone?" or words to that effect appeared...i clicked no, then searched google for what seekzone was and its a porn site, as it appears are some of the other parasites! i havent been on porn since i was 14
I don't really have anything better to do to be honest.

Look at the link i posted and just see if the stuff is there and follow the instructions.

Internet optimizer is part of the parasite. If you go to control panel>add/remove programs see if you have any new, weird programs that you have not put on yourself. Let me know your results.

No look at my link, it's got everything you need.

We're not getting anywhere arguing about links

as for links, pestpatrol works seems to show the problem ok but second link says "cannot find server"

on my add/remove program list theres 2 which seem to be unwelcome:

active alert and
internet optimiser

theres also a "viewpoint media player (remove only)" which thought i dont recognise i imagine its the above 2 causing the problems
