I always just say i got 9 A stars and 4 As. Simple. Not really difficult to add a few syllables.

If you say, I got 10 As and A*s then you might have gotten 1 A* and 9As or 9A*s and 1A, which are very different. I prefer to just mention that i got 9A*s and just ignore those 2 pesky As........

Most people employed in Education don't differentiate between A's and A*'s - there is such little difference they just use the term 'A' grades!

So you are perfectly entitled to say "I got 10 A's and A*'s" regardless how many are at each.

depends which you've got more of really, if you have a greater proportion of A*s then you'll more likely to differentiate between A*s and As but if say you have 9As and 1A* then it would make you sound a lot better if you said 10 As and A*s.

But you're talking about A*s in a plural context - therefore that's not right... You say, I got 9 A's and an A* - otherwise you're lying...
