Are English Language and English Literature two separate GCSEs? (AQA)

I'm following AQA English Language and Literature at GCSE. I'm confused, because we get a GCSE grade for English Language and another GCSE grade for literature. Are those two grades two GCSEs? Or do they combine, and make just one GCSE?

Yes

Two separate GCSEs...but some of the coursework can be combined, so that you can submit the same essay to both. That's what my school is doing, and it means that our workload is almost halved. :biggrin:

doesn't affect the grade in a anyway though.

All the advice given so far is correct. The only thing to note is that it is sometimes taught as a combined course in schools and colleges.

My son is autistic and struggles with Eng Lit whereas Lang is easier for him. School treats it as one subject which is causing him some stress.

Yes it’s 2 diffrent ones although you prolly already know since you should be around 26/27 now if we consider that you asked this question in yr11/10
