Can I get blood test results over the phone?

I was supposed to go to the doctors today for the results of some blood tests but because of the snow I can't get there in time. I rang up to cancel but they don't have anymore appointments today and I am leaving tomorrow so I can't take an appointment on Monday.

Am I allowed to ring the doctors surgery asking for blood test results?

Yes, as long as they didn't particularly say to see the doctor. They normally only give results out on the phone if they are normal - they don't usually give figures just say it's all ok. If there is something odd, they will probably ask you to make an appt with a dr. Check your surgery's website as some only give out results between certain times.

If there's nothing really wrong then yeah they usually give them out over the phone. They'll even give out figures for things like INR actually. Give them a call, if they're not already shut! :p:

I rang and they said the doctor wanted to speak to me, so I'm just going to have to come home and go next week :unsure:

I rang up my local surgery today to get my results for a blood test. I was able to speak to a nurse who told me the results over the phone but I have to go back and see my doctor too.
