(plus i am affraid that if i do take protein shakes it may affect my health for the bad becuase my mother and father suffer from diabetes and high blood prssure) hate the taste of nourishment and was wandering if all types of protein shakes taste like that??? and if you do take protein shakes do u have to go to a gym??? cant you work out at home (without a home gym) with dumbells etc. also are chin up bars great for upper body workouts? do they target all the major muscle groups

Maximuscle are good, but far too expensive for what they are. Im currently using Dorian Yates Pro Peptides...google it. I take it straight after a W.O. Iv tried quite a lot of different types, and none are extremely nice tasting, but some are nicer than others. You shouldnt use the shakes instead of meals (They are supplements to your diet), but if you need to then go for MRP. They will have lots of protein, carbs, etc. Metrx are the original one, and IMO the best MRP. There are often deals going on it. If you are gonna train at home, get a heavy (youll be supprised what you can lift in diff exercises) barbel set, which may come with dumbell bars too. All yuo should really need is bench, squats and deadlifts. Between these three you have worked most of the muscles in your body, but you could add some wide grip pullups, shoulder press, french press, etc. Also If you have the facilities, then dips are v.good too, weighted if you need.G'luck

You can get a massive tub of whey from £30 for www.wheyconsortium.co.uk.

Cheaper than maximuscle.

Forget protein shakes. If you want protein get it naturally. Start eating lots more of lean meat e.g. chicken and fish.
Check the health shops as they also have different vitamins for body building, toning etc, altho personally doubt whether they are that effective. If you do wana build up and get in shape, you have to go to the gym (and eat more) and devise a plan whereby you work different muscles each day and do different things e.g. mine is doing back/arms/shoulder, lats/shoulders and legs (something like that) different days.

i think u should make protein milkshakes yourself. If you have the mixer, just pour some milk, add some whey protein and one banana. Then drink. It isnt disgusting, because it has banana flavour. And it really helps. Thats what i do. Then go to the gym and workout. Remember that you shouldnt exercise each muscle every day. You should give it time, approx 2-3 days, to build up.

Yeah thats true, but after a W.O. you need to get protein in you asap to stop muscle breakdown, aid recovery/growth. Red meat takes too long for the body to absorb the protein from it. Wehy protein has a high BV so is absorbed v quickly and so is good straight after exercise.

You saying that you can bulk up, or even just gain a noticeable difference in 2-3 days!?

I think he meant over a period of 2-3 days you should aim at having exercied all muscles groups so after day 3 back to the muscle group you exercised on day 1 etc...

No i think she means give it 2-3 days rest, however you should naturally rest it for at least a day, however if your plan is like i mentioned above, you would only work a certain set of muscles once a week.

Kl. Even that though is overtraining IMO. If you train a muscle hard enough, it can take a week to fully recover (poss even more) and get maximum growth. Each muscle once a week is enough, if you work it hard enough.

I used oats and milk for PWO. Seems to work fine, easy to make.

I s'pose it should be ok, but not the best you could have. Oats are made up of complex carbs, so releases energy slowly over a long period of time. Milk is made up of long chain amino acids(what all protein is made of) but since these chains are big, it takes a while for them to be broken down and digested. Milk and oats are v.good, but are better suited for breakfast, or even before bed (if bulking).

Go do some research for yourself rather than wanting to be spoon fed information by all of us.

protein shakes r a good way of gaining muscle as people have stated above, mainly because the protein is absorbed quickly, which is good after a workout.however, dont forget that protein shakes are supplements and are not supposed to be a substitute for food. basically mate, if your not prepared to eat 5 meals spread out over the day with plenty of protein in each, then its gonna be very hard for u to make any significant gains.

It doesn't matter how much protein you drink in the form of shakes if you're still in a calorie deficit, which is why you need to eat some bloody food.
