As long as you're not on bail, or have any outstanding charges etc. it won't make any difference. They might consider your charges if you were applying for a green card or something, but it's highly unlikely it will matter for a tourist visa (unless you have a caution for drugs trafficking, organised crime or terrorism offences).
Pshht, a caution.

Thanks! What is a green card?
You cannot go to the USA without a VISA if you have been arrested - were you arrested?

If you were arrested you will need to go to the US embassy and get a VISA (assuming you are a british citizen)

Do not just turn up there expecting to get in because they DO have access to certain info.

Thanx Clubber, erm well I not sure as I was voluntarily arrested, I had the choice to co-operate with the police. Netherless I guess its still a arrest!

Well I was thinking as I do not intend to travel to America just yet will be in two years time do I stand a better chance getting a visa then?
doesnt make any difference as far as i know

did you have a photo and fingerprints taken? if so then you were prob arrested.

yeah thought so, yes I did have my photo and fingerprints taken! Is it going to be hard for me to get a VISA to travel to America now should I wait for a couple years till I can prove myself to the emabassy that nothing has happened since my only one police caution in my life?
i dont know if it will make any difference over time tbh.

it depends what it was for - some things like drug taking will prob be looked upon worse than minor crimes.

It was for fraud misrepresentation, the crime was not work related it was to do with a health insurance I was paying to every month. Not sure how this is going to sit with USA embassy!

Travelers who have been arrested, even if the arrest did not result in a criminal conviction, and those with criminal records, (the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act does not apply to U.S. visa law), are required to apply for visas. If they attempt to travel without a visa, they may be refused entry into the United States

http://www.usembassy.org.uk/cons_new/visa/niv/arrests_and_convictions.html

The same is pretty much found for Canada:

http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/united_kingdom-royaume_uni/visas/inadmissibility-interdiction.aspx

On this basis I would recommend just giving a quick call to any embassy of a country you intend to visit. It may seem silly for a police caution, but its that or get turned away at passport control!!

I was offered a police caution for outraging public decency, long story short, I was depressed and had had enough with my crappy homelife/people causing me **** and one day ended up drinking alcohol, too much and apparently did lewd stuff on a bus. I had a voluntary interview earlier this month, the allegation/incident was in the middle of November. When offered my caution, my fingerprints and photo were taken, as well as DNA swab, but I was not arrested, was told it's standard practice when being issued a caution.
