I took my English Literature A level in 2008 and got a B grade, but I would really like to aim for the A/A* because it was just one module that put my grade down.

However, I took my A level under the old specification so I will need to retake the whole A level course (with a different exam board as I will be doing it with ICS so I can continue working).

Is this okay? Do I need to "cancel out" my original A level somehow, or is it okay to hold two A levels in the same subject?

As far as I can tell this will not be possible if you've already had your original A level certificated because you cannot have two A levels with the same subject name...
If it was your last A2 module there's a chance that might still be run in summer...not sure if it was this exam session or the next that those will be finished...

Oh no! Really? Would it make a difference that my first A level is English Literature, and my second would be English Literature B as there's two specifications?

I think so as the A level title would still be 'English Literature' why do you want to improve it ? There could be alternative A levels/courses you could take and try to get a good grade in depending on what you need it for and what you enjoy...English Language or Classics are the first two that come to mind that an English student might enjoy :s: might be way off the mark there though not sure...

Oh, I am not denying that my B grade is fine, but I got As in all of my modules apart from one which brought my grade down! It's just a shame you know! Also it might be a bit sad, but I kind of miss studying literature and doing a whole new course would be quite exciting!

Thanks for your advice though I will look into alternative courses.

Edexcel originally... the new one I'd do would be AQA specification B.

I think Edexcel let you re-sit in the summer for the last time for the old spec, so you could just re-sit that one module to get your grade up.
