    Okay, basically i've googled it, and i've looked at the definition in my textbook, and i seem unable to interpret either, so could anyone give me a simple definition please?

    Resolution (also in radar) refers to the detail at which an image is projected. For instance, the lower the radio frequency, the worse the resolution a radar will create of a contact. It's the same with satellites. Radar satellites will project low resolution images of small things like single small warships but are useful for detecting large task groups of bigger warships because of the pattern of the contacts. For instance, a contact of a large resolution surrounded by smaller resolution contacts implies a task group with a large vessel at its centre, clearly a military target.
