    A large plank of wood of lenght 8m and mass 30kg is held in equilibrium by two small steel rollers A and B, ready to be pushed into a saw-mill. The centres of the rollers are 50cm apart. One end of the plank presses against roller A from underneath, and the plank rests on top of roller B. The rollers are adjusted so that the plank remains horizontal and the force exerted on the plank by each roller is vertical.

    a) Suggest a suitable model for the plank to determine the forces exerted by the rollers.

    b) Find the magnitude of the force exerted on the plank by the roller at B.

    c) Find the magnitude of the force exerted on the plank by the roller at A.
