We've had the masterbation polls, we've had the sex polls, we've probably had this one some time in the distant past, but now we've got the underage drinking poll!
I was wondering how many people did/do drink underage.
When i say drinking underage I mean going into a bar/club/pub and getting a drink, not with a meal, just on its own.
I didn't do clubs or pubs, but me and a mate would often buy a party pack of bud or whatever and consume it either at home or a park bench....depressing times
It's not big, not clever, and I can't stand people who brag about doing illegal stuff and thinking they are mature...
Yups. I was being confused for 20+ by the time i was 16 so hitting the pubs for some underage action was a doddle. Ironically the only time i was ever IDed and thrown out of a pub was a week before my 18th while i was stood beside a 16 year old(who was left alone) without a drink in my hand and without making any attempt to buy a drink.
What i am really wondering is if there is anyone who hasnt A walk down winchester high street on a friday night will tell you that its really easy to get hold of alcohol underage (the other night i walked into an offie to see a pair of girls who were clearly no older than 14 walk out with a couple of bottles of wine and a 4 pack of WKD blue), and theres no shortage of people doing it.
It irritates me in a hypocritical sort of way because I feel i have earned my right to drink having got to the ripe old age of 19 and all these young wippersnappers are raining on my parade by getting wasted in the park aged 12.
I dont think theres all that much with having a few beers in the privacy of your own home, i dont think that illegal anyway, but in public i think its out of hand.
God yes, pubs/clubs at 16 (managed to get in once at 15) and even had 'parties' at friends houses every friday night around 13/14 years old where we would bring vodka disguised in cola bottles and listen to music.
Classy, I know..
Disclaimer: Attempting to buy alcohol before the age of 18 is against the law and this post is any no way associated with the opinion or ethos of TSR
They're clamping down on underagers in Oxford clubs now, been there, done that, it was mostly 14 year old girls and 30 year old men there .
But pubs-easy to get into. And landlords are usually pretty sound, they'll ask you to finish your drinks and leave, then you go to the next pub. Get the oldest looking person to get the drinks from the bar, s'allrite.
And then there's the parties at peoples houses, oh and school trips, oh and school discos.
Yeah we used to buy a few cans and go to the park or someone's house/garden. In the early days it was vodka. First time we got pissed outside on the park, we were all wrecked off some homemade vodka we paid £8 for and fell asleep on the park for a good hour or so. Good times.
We started when we were 13-14 (myself and friends)
I think I got smashed a few times, but normally I couldn't really afford to drink. Maybe have a few on a night out, which wasn't that regularly, because obviously I couldn't drive! Once I passed my test I went out more, I kinda considered myself of legal age because all my friends were a year older than me. I drink a LOT more now I'm at uni, but didn't really drink on my gap year.
This is gonna sound a stupid question - but can anyone explain the change in mindset from that of, say, going to a pub for darts/snooker/pool - and enjoying a SOCIAL drink that accompanies those activities - to the mindset of going out with the INTENTION of getting totally ratted and out of control?
Frig sake I'm drinkin now and have been for about 10days straight. My motto is that from Macbeth "Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player, that struts and frets his hour upon the stage and then is heard no more; it is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing." - therefore If I can liven it up with a wee drink, then I friggin will. Cheers Barkeep.

A social drink chills you out. Getting wasted gets rid of most inhibitions and you get to go mental and have loads of fun. Getting smashed out of your mind is not fun, but usually takes your mind off depression. Sometimes occurs when you want to get happily drunk but drink too much too fast.
I've drank so much that I've passed out in college and had to be half carried home. I passed out on the floor and managed to be sick in my sleep. I'm really lucky that I didn't choke and die. I've never drank that much since and I don't intend to ever again. I don't understand anyone who would want to do that, because that was the worst thing I've ever done. Please learn from my mistake!
Yes I did but I didn't do the chav thing and drink on the street and get pissed... I started when I was about 15/16... parents would give me wine and at wedding receptions my cousins and I would raid the free bar all in the name of fun... got tipsy but not smashed until I started uni.
