Not eating

I've decided I'm a moose and I want to go on slimfast.

Problem is, I actually am a moose, and can't stop eating. Anyone got any tips on how to make myself ignore the need to eat? It's not even hunger goddamnit, I don't know why I want to eat.

Note: I'm doing the slimfast one which is where you just drink the milkshake stuff and don't eat anything else.

Drinking more water is a good idea to start with, it should relieve the hunger.

Erm. okay...are you eating because you have nothing to do? I find that if i exercise, i feel good about myself and so don't want to eat anymore. I end up eating fruit if I'm hungry after exercising.
I think everyone goes through that phase of non-stop eating at one point. You'll get past it. The truth is, you are not hungry and you don't need to eat. The best thing to do is dont think about food. Just don't think about it. Food Thoughts = Food Actions. If you think about food, you'll want to eat it. Honestly, EXERCISE is the best thing you could possibly do to lose weight. Get a skipping rope and find somewhere in your home to use it. It's cheap, easy and effective :smile:

I'm a piggy with food. Seriously piggy..since I went on the pill, what a bugger.

I'm trying a 2 day detox, gonna eat lots of fruit and veg and drink lots of water so I don't actually feel hungry.

Well if it's difficult to control yourself from eating then why not choose an alternative?
Just snack on small, healthy snacks rather than junk food or such. Healthy like rice cakes or fruit or carrot sticks if you like. Like other people said drinking a lot of water is good. Also I find coffee is an appetite suppressant but makes you pee. :redface:

Diet coke/pepsi is good as well, no calories or stuff and tasty :biggrin:

not that I'm encourageing it but if you dont want to eat a fizzy drink like coke in the morning stops you from being too hungry all day and if uyou are hungry just eat some ice cubes!

The food diary thing doesn't work for me..I can see I'm a bit of a piggy but I don't really care! That's bad isn't it?! I'm not overweight but I'm gonna start eating much more healthily now..really...

i think i'm drinking 4 pints of water/dilute fruit juice a day

at first is stopped the hunger..

It's another thread I made in H&R. You just make a post of what you've eaten, and edit it to update it each day, so you can see how much you eat in a week. It's quite scary really!

Oh FFS Lauren. You're what, a size 8, and you're trying to get people to flatter your ego some more?

I tend to decide to eat if I'm bored/don't have anything else to do. So find other stuff to do.

I sometimes have that problem. When I get urges, I force myself to have half a bottle of water, just to fill me up (even if I'm not hungry) and try not to keep snacks in the house (tough in my family - mum + bro survive on chocolate grr..).

No. Geez. I asked for help on how to not stuff my face all the time. A few other people want to know as well. Why've you gone all mardy cos I asked a question? And what's with all this "flatter your ego" stuff? I never said I was fat. I said I eat like a moose (hence will get fat).

I saw it on American Tv on holiday. Dunno if its any good.

This will sound stupid but mind change cards worked for my dad. He wrote on cards statements such as "I only eat when I am hungry and now I feel happier" and read them everyday. He also stuck them on cupboards in the kitchen..for example he always used to snack on bread when he was bored so he stuck a card where we keep the bread saying "I do not eat bread in between meals. Instead I drink water." to stop himself. It sounds really stupid but it worked!!!

Just don't snack, eat a healthy diet and do at least 30m of aerobic excercise per day! I wouldn't encourage not eating it does more harm than good.

I don't think Slim Fast is a good idea hunny, its for short term weight loss I think, so maybe when you go back to eating normally you'll put the weight back on. Plus its starving yourself, I mean 3 milkshakes a day or something? I'd be starving! It might be best to just eat sensibly.

Eat foods taht contain lots of complex carbs, such e.g. oats. This will give you energy over a long period, so you should feel full, and shouldnt feel the need to eat for a while. :smile:
Doing slimfast will just make you want to eat more. You will get so sick of those milkshakes, you'll eventually crack and go and eat all your favourite foods at once. Plus diets are boring, and people on diets are really boring. Just try and exercise some self control.
