Price Of Getting Drunk...(Too Expensive?).

Hi.

So I decided to stop drinking beer (lager etc) because well it tastes like crap. No one can tell me it tastes nice. I could probably have the odd pint, when I'm drunk. Force myself.

But I prefer to drink something like WKD or Smirnoff Ice. This is expensive though at £2.75 a bottle. AT LEAST (usually more) 10 a night = £27.50

Then there's the whole concept of buyin rounds...anyway what to do? Is there anyone else who drinks alcopops? What do you think...

You should just man-up and start drinking a real drink. £1.20 a pint up in York, £1.50 round here, even if you don't like it, its just good business sense.

The best thing to do is to get reasonably drunk, or satisfactorily tipsy, before the evening starts. A bottle of wine, a bottle of spirits, whatever. Much more 'cost-effective', as it were.

If you think you NEED to get drunk, theres other issues that you need to be addressing mate...
To start with, lager is not beer. I recommend you try the REAL stuff. Lager is sometimes good if it's really hot but I agree that often it just has no depth to the taste. On the other hand alcopops taste of chemicals/sugar/urgh and are pricy and don't get you drunk. Wine might be the way forwad for you.

You can't say you want to get drunk for cheap then say you can only drink alcopops and complain it'll be expensive.
I'd like to get drunk on fine cocktails every time I go out but it works out too expensive.

Just get the crappiest wine/vodka if you want to get drunk for cheap!

The other night we were drinking shots of some cheap Polish vodka. Worked out very cheap indeed...

Alcopops will get you drunk as much as most beers since they contain the same amount of alcohol. The only subtle difference is how fast the drunkenness will appear.

Why isn't Lager beer? Ale tastes of complete *****.
Lager clearly is beer. Ale is much nicer IMO but lager isn't bad either - "No depth to the taste" ?? What is that supposed to mean! "mmm.. this doesn't taste very deep"!

he means that lager isnt very complex to taste. whereas ales have hints of things; theyre a bit tastier.

try some 'specialist' beers; local ales, bitters, premium beers like hoegaarden.

I think lager is an acquired taste, and you may be still a bit young!

You'll get used to lager when the time comes. Alchopops at 2.75 I guess is average, when in London they are £4.00 a bottle.

I think you need to get wasted on the old Stella and then tell me you don't like it.

Beer is naturally brewed without added crap, whereas lager is full of additives or extra stuff on top of beer.

Everything is a lager nowadays. The most common beer is a Budweiser and even then, you could classify that as a lager!

What about cider? My friend hates all beer, but loves cider. On the plus side, it reasonably cheap compared to other alcoholic drinks. I don't mind it myself actually. Although I'd rather go for a nice bitter.

Alcopops are anout 5% alcohol but most beers are about 4-4.5%

you have more liquid in a pint than a bottle though!

But you can drink alcopops like orange squash.

If you want to get drunk quick then buy wine... you can buy a cheap bottle for less than a fiver, and that's normally more than enough for me.

I was always told as a kid that cider is so cheap to kill off all the tramps!
What a bad drink that is.

Alcopops might be 5% but they don't have the quantity.
And they don't call Stella wife beaters for nothing you know!
Just buy a bottle of Jack Daniels or of Gin and split the price with friends (2 or 3). Itl b like a fiver or less. Trust me after 5 shots ur well sorted and rdy to party hard.
PS: U might hav to puke at the end of the night but thats part of the risk of gettin smashed!!!

Hav fun.

I drink cider, guiness, jack daniels, wkd, taboo, and red wine.
Basically anything that gets me drunk.
I solve the problem of rounds by timing it just right and going in the pub early and getting the first drinks cos when everyone else comes in they buy them.
