My parents haven't been on a holiday in years, preferring to do the house up and paying for me to go skiing. My mum has her heart set on going to Mexico at the start of May, as she doesn't have her uni exams then and it's for my birthday (which is the 9th of May).

The exams I'm taking in Summer '10 are French and History. I've tried looking on exam board websites to work out the date but it's pretty hard to decipher what's what. I know usually oral French exams are early on- and the earliest date I'm getting is the 26th May for exam start times.

Teachers are NOT being helpful, they can't even be bothered to find out for me My mum wants to book it in the next 12 hours, do you think the 1st-14th of May will be okay to go away? Being away from college won't be an issue, I'm an only child and so it would be just me and my parents. I'll work better on a beach in Mexico anyway with my books out than being in a stuffy classroom!

The Oral will depend on your school, usually they are held early on in March & April. AS exams are normally from mid may to the start of June, A2 exams most of June.
Are you sure the collegel will consent to you missing times off at such a crucial period to go on holiday? I would check with them first before your Mum books.
Surely your Mum can book the holiday for when your exams are over.

Have a look at http://www.modernisationonline.org.uk/comptimetable/ for written exams, but orals will depend on schools. I know I have an exam on the 13th May so I would make sure of the dates first.

Are you sure it's wise to go on holiday at such a crucial point? The weeks leading up to your AS exams are meant for revision...

I've emailed my teachers saying that I NEED to know my exam times by 9:30am. Hopefully they'll listen to me this time. Thanks all! x

They probably won't be able to tell you your oral exam time and there is a good chance of it falling between those dates, so to be safe, I wouldn't take it then.

Last year my French AS was really early. I think the oral was at the end of April and the written was start to mid May.
