I found the Sulphonic Acid (H3SNO3) one the most annoying. Especially the question "Why is Sulfonic acid a better descaler than HCL?"

I had no idea and wrote down "Because it isn't as corrosive"
    thats right just checked...

I put MgCl2 is aqueous, so it is soluble in water, therefore blood.
Whereas MgCO3 is in solid form.

I was a bit annoyed with the enthalpy question. We didnt need to know that last year and none of my teachers told me the course has changed a bit :| I'm REALLY hoping i got a B this time because i can't afford to retake again!

The reagents question was fairly easy, but there were some questions that weren't supposed to be there (mechanisms). This shocked me a little but i still knew the answer. What did you all draw for that question that asked you to collect a gas? I drew a downward displacement thing.

Yes it was meant to be there...
    Easy marks too :woo:

For the last question i put check if it's biodegradable and if it can be recycled...would i get both the marks? anyone?
You are talking about the question with PVC and metal?
Well, I'm not sure this will be useful in this question, as the fact of PVE being biodegradable is not useful.. because they are making water pipes out of it!

    16. - MgCO3 (s) + 2HCL (aq) ---> MgCl2(s) + CO2 (g) + H2O (l)
16.b) - It fizzes (exothermic). I don't know what the other observation would be.
    16.c) - 0.05mol
    ii. - 1:2 ratio between MgCO3 + 2HCL. So 0.025 x 84.3 = 2.1g
    iii. -
iv. - use a filter paper.
    v. - 0.025 x 203.3 = 5.08. 3.75/5.08 x 100% = 73.8%
vi. - Because some solution gets left on the filter paper.
    16. d) - That the compound fits the purely ionic model or is almost 100% ionic.
ii. - It has a high charged cation and a large anion, so it is polarized and experiences some covalent character.
    16.e) -

wouldn't 7 be B as we are removing an electron from a full outer shell.

Also, shouldnt 14c be 'B' because pentene and cyclopentane both have the molecular formula c5H10
