Is it me or have they changed since last year? because last year I did BCP1 and 2 for science and received 39/42 and got a B.
Yet when I recently did a retake I achieved 23/42 and still got a B?

I know for sure last year 39/42 was the boundary for A* on the higher paper
    31/42 was A I think
you probably got 29/42 which is a B
23/42 was the border for B I think.
    I'm guessing C was around 15/42
I'm not sure though, I completed my GCSEs last year.

Today I had a look at my mates score, and realized that the old papers were out of 50? but how is that possible?

The reason your mate got a mark out of 50 is because he was given the UMS points score.

UMS is the uniform mark score which is the score the exam board have allocated to your raw mark according to how hard the paper is.
