Dermatologist and my mole watch

    • Thread Starter

I have a raised mole about the size of a 5 pence piece stretched like an oval on my lower back. I saw a dermatologist a few years back and he declared it nothing out of the ordinary. However to me the mole does not look like your usual mole and without a biopsy how could he be certain it wasn't cancerous? Just wondering if I should get a second opinion and the fact that the mole is large shouldn't it just be removed to be on the safe side?

If you haven't as noticed any worrying changes about this mole in the last few years than I think that it is pretty reassuring in itself. Dermatologists are specialists and they train for a fair few years so even if the mole looks unusual to you it may well be that they are able to tell with confidence just by looking at it that it is benign.

If you are worried though go and see your GP again.
