if you have achieved the grades necessary to get in, you dont have to contact them . So confirming your place is probably not top priority. Plus we're on holidays so staff numbers will probs be less, and therefore longer to take care of such matters.

Keep checking "LSE for you." Your status box things will change once they have processed your grades. It may also be useful to check the "this is how long it is taking us to process mail" information. I did get a letter in the mail eventually, but it was at least a week behind the update on "LSE for you."

it's the way that all applicants have been accessing it all year...we just have to enter our applicant number and date of birth later to get to our own accounts.

theres not that much on LSE For You actually, only class registers and stuff. the best bit is at the end of the terms, checking your reports from classes you only attended the minimum amount of. once you find out you cannot miss two classes in a row, it inevitably leads to missing every other one which I did for my economics class. however it lead to this report:

"This student has poor attendance and poor participation in class. He is obviously not putting forth the necessary effort as he does not know what is going on on the days he shows up to class. This is highly problematic as I occasionally ask some students to present parts of homework to the class. Once, not only did he not have any idea how to do the homework, he did not even know what broad topic we were covering."

And i still got a 2:2 in it

Do all students receive BOTH number grades, such as 2:1, and narrative comments? Does this apply to postgrads as well?

Sorry to bother you but since you are actually at the LSE, perhaps you can give me some feedback?

i.e. about the people there, lecturers, how demanding are the courses/exams/coursework etc...? Oh, and social life?

Thank you in advance.

Oh, I'm sorry, guys! I didn't realize that we had different systems. Best of luck, regardless!

Are you international students who need to apply for a visa? If so, you might try checking the certificate that you can print out. Mine changed from saying that I had a conditional offer to saying that I had an unconditional offer after they got my stuff.

Where do I get the certificate of acceptance? Can I get it from a website or do I wait for them to send it to me?

LSE 4 U is for postgrads so undergrads relax. It takes a while for the documents received to be identified on the system. The website gives details. If you apply as an undergrad, Im assuming you do it through UCAS. If so get in touch with them. The best thing is to remember it generally takes a week from the document reaching LSE before it comes onto their online system via subject department. So give them 2 weeks grace from when you think they sould have replied. If in doubt you can always phone but Im sure they will say the same.

You can get a certificate off LSE 4 U but again this only applies to postgrad- Its right at the bottom of the screen which has your personal details.

On a different matter,I've sent my transcript for a postgrad course about 2 months ago but I still havent received it back yet. Do they return it or do you get it when you register in person? Im assuming I dont have anything else to do until registration in Sept right?

You'll have 2 hours per module of lectures - so 8 hours of lectures a week, and then a one hour class every week for the modules, so another 4 hours. 12 hours a week really isnt much. the courses aren't particularly demanding, you usually get one set of exercises every week to complete for your next class, some take a few hours, some take a matter of minutes. the lecturers are naturally good, it is the LSE after all. people wise, the LSE has two different sorts of people. one 'group' is the large proportion of chinese and people of similar nations, who hang around together - no integration with anyone else at all. and then theres every1 else .

The exams that have just gone were actually a biatch compared to other years. so when you do your past paper practice in your first year you will be well prepared, unlike us lol.

The social life within LSE itself isn't wonderful. most half-cool people hang around in the Tuns (the main bar), but you're in the centre of london for gods sake lol, every1 hangs out somewhere different. this is also the case for nightlife, you have crush every friday at LSE which is lame compared to nights out at real clubs, but for freshers week and the next couple of weeks it is essential for meeting new people. also the drinks are cheap. you'll gradually move on to better clubs. the student night at ministry of sound every wednesday is really good, i dont know if the prices will be the same next year (should be) but it was £3/4 to get in, and then just drink the Vodka Cruisers which were 2 for £3 - you'll be off your face in no time . then you've got all the clubs in Soho (people stereotypically think Soho is where the gay clubs are, but there are also a lot of straight clubs), as well as other not quite so central clubs (ministry, fabric, etc.). I dont know your sexual preference  but there are gay clubs around london, i've popped into G.A.Y. once and the atmosphere is wicked, even for a straight guy like myself. You'll realise its not a good idea to go out at weekends, £15 ish to get in anywhere, compared to your student nights during the week which are around a fiver.

hope this helps, just post any more questions
