    :toofunny:

You list those and your hobbies and believe that you're in a position to be so rude about women's interests? I was expecting rock climbing, breakdancing and bungee jumping!

You playing the guitar counts as a hobby but women playing instruments don't? I play the guitar, bass and drums. I would say that those are definitely hobbies. Oh wait, I'm female, so it probably doesn't count.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't you earlier say that listening to music is not a hobby? So why have you listed trance as one of your hobbies? You also suggested that YOU finding girls boring is an indicator of them having no 'real' hobbies. I find trance incredibly boring, but I would still be happy for you to classify it as a hobby.

About the System 32 comment you made to death.drop... how idiotic of you to suggest that girls have no understanding of technology.

Also, you've never had a girlfriend, have you?
When did I say playing an instrument doesn't count? Learn to read, may help with a job. Don't be an idiot and try to make a strawman, that **** won't fly here love. Most people thing just listening to a music counts - not having a genuine interest (Read my post above).
I think idiots and *****es shouldn't be allowed on the internet, and she was/is being a flat out cow, hence the comment.
Also I have had girlfriends before, what does that have to do with my comments? Seriously, again, try not to be a ***** dear - Nice how you list your hobbies isn't it?

people who are interested in sports can talk for a long time about it, people who are interested in shopping can also talk about it for a long time. One is not boring and the other interesting, they're just different interests.
And your point about many girls playing tennis - does that not contradict your own earlier statements that girls don't have 'real' hobbies?

Is that really what talking about shopping is like? I can't say I do it an awful lot, but when I have done it's more about styles, colours, fabrics etc or the actual day out I've had.
although, tbh, I don't really know any girls who list "shopping" as a hobby, I'd probably be the closest because I take a bit of an interest in fashion, but that's only because I like to make and customise my own clothes and watch things like project runway (also about making clothes).

That may just be the girls you know.

I have no words but

Again, everyone I know is in to one area or another of technology and it all interlinks. Be that putting together pcs, the advances in LED tattooing or the research into using flash memory to replace cmos and ccd sensors. (all things I had conversations about last night at the pub)

I can't believe you honestly think you're so superior to everyone else.
people with an interest in music (past listening to it and sharing recommendations) will find that interesting. Everyone else? won't give a crap. it doesn't make you any more interesting or any less mindless.

I didn't avoid the gym, I lumped it in with sports. And I missed games, though you didn't even say which type so I can't really comment.

I wasn't picking them apart, just trying to show you that there is no 'interesting' and 'boring' there's just common interests, and that one hobby is no more valid than another.

I wouldn't say I'm thrilling or cool, really.
I already listed my hobbies earlier in the thread:
    painting
    playing the piano
    animals/my pets
    making/customising clothes.
    reading
the internet (in that I like to find things out, makes for interesting pub night chat)
photography (not in an artsy way, I just work in a photography business and both my parents are photographers so I take an interest)
    pub night/hanging out with friends
and I did forget body mods earlier, but I tend to keep up with what's going on in that area because I find it really interesting (from superficial things like eyeball tattooing to medical things like those carbon fibre legs and artificial larynxs)
oh, and I sometimes volunteer with small charity for rape victims.
and, if you're counting it as a hobby, technology.

edit: that was a lot longer than I thought. Anyway, the whole point is there is no interesting and there is no boring. If you find girls so unbearably dull then do us a favour and piss off.
There is no interesting and there is no boring? Wow, what a load of utter BS if I've ever read any. So someone who has many interests is just as interesting as someone who does nothing but stare at a wall all day?
Looks like my philisophy tutor had a point, no?
Talking about shopping takes less than a minute - "Seen the new style this year? It's **** - bad colours, bad shape". If it takes a while to talk about shopping, the person needs to learn how to be concise.
As for many girls liking tennis, many more than figure of none as you suggested.
It may just be the girls I know, but specious reasoning from you nevertheless.
Well the crowd you know know those things - all the girls I know know nothing about technology, and it doesn't all interlink. How does LED tattooing have anything to do with the 40nm problem in industry??
So if someone doesn't give a crap, that makes the person talking boring & mindless? Not the brightest star are you? Just because someone is talking about a topic I share no relative interest in doesn't mean they are boring, just I don't share an interest in the said topic. Having nothing to say is mindless and boring. Obviously this concept is hard to grasp for some.
What type of games? Video games, drinking games etc.
Again the idea of no interesting and boring is nothing shy of retarded. Someone who has plenty of interests and is socially adept enough to talk about them is going to be more interesting than someone with no interests or life.
Your pets as an interest? Imagine that conversation:
"I have a dog. It's black (other descriptions, what it does)"
    "Fair enough, thrilling almost...."
The internet is not an interest - what you look up is an interest.
Socialising isn't an interest, just means you are normal, or as normal as a person with your views can be. Then again you seem to be a person who is scared of judgement and hangs on the fence:
"I hate being asked my favourite colour. I love all the colours"
If you want a body mod, start with getting a spine.

    blah blah blah
I don't know how we've come to this. All I'm saying is that just because you don't share a girls interest does not make her boring. Just because you don't think you could talk about something for more than a minute doesn't mean nobody else can.

regarding this boring/not boring thing - I have yet to meet a person who has not a single interest. When you meet someone who has literally NOTHING they can talk about, I might agree that said person is boring.

as for getting personal; if you think there's nothing to talk about concerning animals beyond what colour my dog is then you should probably sit down and watch a wildlife documentary.
there's nothing wrong with liking all the colours.
I never said I wanted a body mod. Just because I find it interesting that people have horns implanted under their foreheads does not mean I want it done.

What Death.Drop was saying is not a load of BS, your the one spouting BS, "Girl's no nothing about technology", it is true for me, but i have friends (and shock, horror yes they are female) who do have a technological hobby. My sister built her own, computer from the components, and it is a nice one as well. She was interested enough in tech, to do the research for the pleasure of building her own, comp, rather than getting one of the shelf. About girls being bad philosophers that again is utter BS, and is a completely unfounded comment. I talk about shopping and it is not a 10 second conversation, 'cause believe it or not, girls can shop for stuff other than clothes. I talk more about the tech and equipment I have bought with my friends. And it probably is just the girls you know! I know many girls who have a vast range of hobbies. Most of the girls I know are serious about sport and art and more than just playing "boring orchestral" music. Which to you may not seem a hobby, but why is orchestral music any worse than another type of music. It isn't that is just your subjective view.

And what is boring and uninteresting for you, is not for others, you will find no one with no hobbies, what so every, who "just spend their time staring at a blank wall". Everyone has a hobby, and if you find a person like that it is most likely they have chosen not to disclose to you their hobbies, at which point I can see why, as you seem to have a very narrow view on the matter, which would seem to me, make you a worse philosopher than a woman!

Going back to the sport point yes Death drop was incorrect to say that sport is the boy's hobby and shopping the girls, I know of some cases where it is the other way round. I myself am a sportswoman, which I am so involved in I hardly ever have a weekend when I am not playing sport, (this week end being an exception, the pitch was frozen!)

One of my best friends is a musician that is all she does, that does not make her a boring person, I take an interest in what she has to say on the matter, you just can't be ****ed to do the same!

just to clarify, I didn't mean this exactly. Just that since he was stereotyping and saying all girls like shopping I was comparing it to the male equivalent of sport. Of course, there are plenty of both sexes who don't fit the stereotype.

cheers for posting some sense though!

Did I say girls know nothing about technology? Don't make a straw man.
Utter BS that women are bad at philosophy? Okay, please list all the male philosophers and female philosophers. Unfounded? Well let's see what that list shows...
Wow, just take a look at where you mention shopping. You went from "talking about shopping takes more than 10 seconds because my friends have other interests"...Right, so shopping still isn't an interest is it?
Orchestral music itself isn't boring, but if the person only plays it to fill up time rather than an interest, it's not an opening for conversation.
Plus your idea of philosophy is wrong at best. Though if people have to resort to "shopping" and "the internet" for interests, look out, the enthralling people have arrived!
You really haven't understood my post if you interpreted it as "muscians are boring"

There is no need to be patronising, dear. I study engineering at one of the best universities in the world and happen to be one of the best students in the department; I don't need to have anybody questioning my intelligence.

You dismissed girls who played musical instruments as boring, as if that's not something worth mentioning. That's what I was responding to. Also, if you spend a significant amount of time listening to music, I don't see why that shouldn't count as a hobby.

I can ***** all I want. It's the internet. You have no right to dictate what I can and cannot do.

I haven't listed my hobbies, since I have some extremely unusual ones that would lead to me being easily identified. They're not mundane, common interests like those that you listed. I want to remain anonymous.

Only mindless, dull *****es would have relationships with someone who dismisses them as boring. It's no wonder why all the girls you know are boring!

Yes the internet can be classed as interest, (people were generalizing) blogs, research, a source of entertainment.

So yes the internet can be a source of great interest, for those who are interesting (Oh, look that is everyone in their own way!)

I have to laugh at this, it is however possible, though what is more likely, seeming as it seems to be quite a number who now are against you is that you don't have a good personality(or if you do you have not shown it)

No, all the girls I know know nothing of technology. Nothing more to it - don't make a strawman.
Nice specious reasoning on female philosophers. No evidence means it's an irrelevant point.
Oh dear, you still don't see your error with shopping. Your interest is not shopping, it's whatever you;ve been shopping for. Say if you go shopping for a new lens, you do not talk about "shopping" for more than 10 seconds, but you end up talking out photography. Didn't think I'd have to spell that one out.
If you haven't ever done philosophy, your opinion on it sadly is utterly worthless - I'm not going to criticise or comment on a film I have never watched or book I have never read.
Again the internet is not a hobby. What you look up is the interest. So for me, I use the internet to look up info to do with tech & electronics, meaning my interest is tech and electronics, not "the internet". Saying "the internet" is like saying TV is a hobby.
I study at a redbrick uni doing a BSc. That's all I'm going to say over the 'net.

ok bad example with the shopping. But that does not stop it being a real hobby!
So you are treating it like a court of law, with the "no evidance well then it isn't true"
'cause hun, people are not about to document the complete repression of the other sex, and the other sex is not likely to document it's repression!
Well as i have said "philosophy" is the "love of wisdom" so yes I have done philosophy but not in a form you know it!

Shopping is a medium to obtain something else, you don't shop to shop, whereas you go shooting, to go shooting.
And yeah, it's kind of ******* fundamental to say a point has to have evidence for it, otherwise I could say I'm right because I say so. Without a coherent, relevant point, it's nothing more than childish BS....
Done philosophy but not in the form I know it.....so you haven't done it then, as you either have studied or haven't - having an epiphany doesn't count.

not necessarily we could get hate those who stereotype, with no real reason!
That'd just make you ignorant to why the stereotype exists...
And I'll mention the above post to cut down on posts.
No, you go to shop to get new clothes etc. You don't shop to shop, as you can't just "shop" without buying anything, and it's what you are buying that you are interested in...
A lack of evidence isn't evidence, its specious reasoning!! E.g. "This rock keeps tigers away" "How do you know?" "Do you see any tigers around?"
And yeah, the "love of wisdom" is about the study of it, to better your understanding. If I like F1, it doesn't mean I inherently know a lot about.
How old are you? When I have to explain words I begin to worry.
