Although I’m not a student I thought that it was about time that someone decided to TRY and answer some questions that NU Students have about Security within their halls, noise complaints and who to contact if they have any problems when the Accommodation Receptions are closed…
Anyway my name’s Derek and I’ve been employed by Newcastle University since 1991 as a University Police Officer.
Along with the Campus we also cover all of the Halls apart from Castle Leazes.
I’ve glanced through this forum and one problem seems to be talked about quite a lot…NOISE!!
When you call us it will be treated with strictest confidence and even if you complain about one of your flat mates your details will not be discussed (Data Protection)
If you do need to complain about noise, or anything e.g. loss of electricity within halls (out of hours) you can call the 24hr Security Control Room on 0191 222 6817 within the Armstrong Building (Building 24) or alternatively use one of the intercom’s that are situated next to the receptions.
Oh one more thing at the end of the day we are all human and expected to be treated like one
