...what is so socialistic about Obama? Americans are the most anti-socialist nation on the ****** planet. Why would they vote for a socialist? Well because Obama is not a socialist. He is going to socialise the debts of huge corporations by nationalising them and then once they are stable and are making money he will "hand them over" to the private sector again (the profits will be privatised ofc).

He's a Keynesian. A welfare liberal. Nothing socialistic about him so stfu. Interventionist policies are not "socialism".

Personally I think Obama is a godsend.
It is nice to have a US President who has mastered the English language
Now just go tell your PM to spell. Cheers

You laugh at the truth? I ask, can you see the Conservative party privatising the NHS?

Once again, you're ignoring my arguments for your rhetoric.
I'm ignoring your arguments because they are crap. Obama is obviously hiding something and the man is clearly a radical leftist and a black nationalist.

And Obama tried to provide more public healthcare, and is not privatising anything at the moment.

Strange that US just commissioned a new military base in Columbia then, and that military advisers have risen 50% in Latin America.

It's a complete joke to try and link the two together.

The American electorate would never vote in a socialist. That country was built by capitalism.

    Clearly? You've provided no evidence.

And radical in whose terms? In the US, the UK would be radical.

But socialists still advocate nationalised healthcare, which he didn't persue.

Obama on the market: "it's power to generate wealth and expand freedom is unmatched"

Whenever I see your posts, I think you're actually making fun of Christian Conservatives. But you don't. You're one yourself, right?

I could guess that of the American voters only 50% know what they are voting for. Besides being European tsr is less likely to be biased by any American propaganda.

Obama is a joke and not what America or the world needed.
He is still a damn sight better than the threat of Palin receiving presidency though, and so I shall not complain.

The American electorate would never vote in a socialist. That country was built by massive deviations from capitalism.
Protectionism, slavery, land-grants, subsidies, control of access to the land, conquest of natives and Mexicans, public works, proto-Keynesian stimulus spending on the military, union-busting and so on and so forth.

America benefited greatly from radical deviation from free market capitalist principles. I'd say that America would be nowhere near as powerful and rich as it is now if it had stuck to those free market dogmas.

As an American reading this forum I find it quit appealing.

A LOT of Americans are scared of change. He is one few Presidents that is trying affect the lives of Americans (ie socialized healthcare). However, if you ask any average American a/b the UK healthcare, they know nothing - many are ignorant and uneducated. We are taught that there are always long lines and people wait years to get surgery. However, the same can be said about our healthcare here. I pay $40 a month for a basic healthcare plan b/c I can't afford any other (I'm 23, work and support myself). However, going over my plan, I have copays such as $200 for an emergency visit and so on. What Americans don't realize is that there is still privatized healthcare in the UK. When it comes down to it, many people do not want to be treated the same as a person from a different social-economical class.

Being a capitalistic country, being treated the same is unheard of. Yet we have "socialized" many things (ie library, fire departments, public schools, etc. - all FREE, but paid by taxes). What makes the UK different from the US is that UK citizens have realized that the sacrifice of somethings leads to a benefit for all, but Americans what to keep all their money and reduce taxes, which shows a selfish attitude and goes against the old saying, "it's not what my country can do for you, but what you can do for your country." A lot of Americans want everything without giving up something, which is why we will remain in debt b/c we can't raise taxes, which is why jobs are being exported to other countries for cheaper wages (we can't blame one single person ie the president, we can only blame ourselves). We're a selfish nation that doesn't want to be like other successful countries!

That is my 2 cents, you can see why I'm applying to the UK for med school. But I really do value others opinions! Being the president (whether it be Obama, Bush, Clinton, etc.) is tough...you can't please EVERYONE.

    Side note:

I see a lot Christian references. Being a Christian myself, we have to realize the U.S. constitution was not based on Christians values ("In God we Trust" etc. was added onto your money and other things back in the 50's to attack communism)

However, many "Christians" in the U.S. vote Republican, but if you want to get to into details, the Bible says many things the Republican party is against... Abortion is one (I know it's a sensitive subject) - but they consider it to be murder and are against it, however, many Christians are willing to sit in a chair to watch someone die at an execution because they murdered - to me it's just backwards. Quoting the Bible 1 John 3:17 "if a man has the resources of the world but chooses not to help his brother, how can the love of God reside in him?" Like in my previous post, we're a selfish nation...the "American Dream" is about living a life of luxury - not necessity. We turn away immigrants even though our ENTIRE history was based off those arriving from other countries. The list goes on... At some points I'm ashamed to hear some of the things "Christians" say b/c there is no love for others...

Oh wow...Obama is a socialist??? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAH AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Thanks for the laugh. Oh and for the ones that ARE NOT Americans, maybe if you spent more time worried about your own government's political agendas and stay out of ours, maybe your country will be alot better off. Oh and I voted for the Socialist Black Nationalist/Communist and whatever else you choose to call him and I'm proud of it!
