I'd say that girls are alot better organised e.g. most of the lads (inc. me) would just have a notepad, whereas the girls would have folders, coloured notes etc all organised perfectly

But at the end of Year 13, the girls were only just ahead in terms of overall grades?

Depends. I know some girls who colour code, code by topic/alphabet/date and then get a U.

Overall, maybe. Having said that, I know my studying habits are far worse than a lot of guys I know. Depends from person to person really- I'm not dumb blonde or anything, just pretty lazy. I find it hard to bother to go into depth with analysis etc for my study notes. I'm not getting horrible grades though.

It sounds like we're in the same boat. I'm convinced sometimes that I suffer from ADHD- I can't bear to concentrate on a paper for hours on end, trying to regurgitate answers I've memorizes or explaining theories and the like.

Yeah, because that's how revision works.

obviously depends but overall probably. I think girls generally get higher grades although it's only very slightly.

I would say girls are more organised when it comes to revision, but that doesn't always translate to higher grades.

There are girls who just love colour coding, they have thier highlighter ready just to make their work look pretty but still get bad grades. Past papers are the key to getting top grades, notes are good but without being familar with exam technique you are doomed.

I don't think so- they maybe have a general tendency to revise more, but that doesn't make girls better at it. From what I've seen, the boys focus more in class and ask questions etc. until they understand something, even if they don't do much homework or revision, whereas the girls, at my school anyway, are more likely to daydream a bit in class, but do loads of homework in detail. The girls seem to rote learn things and spend large amounts of time making out nice revision notes (myself included :p: ) whereas boys often only scribble things down roughly as revision notes, but have a better understanding of the topics, which means they don't need to spend as much time revising.

It's this inherent game in the male gender that says that the less work you do, the better. Most guys just want to blag their way through life as successfully as they can with as little work as possible.

Girls, however, just seem to play it safe and revise instead. It's no surprise they do better in exams!

    GUYS ARE BETTER AT REVISION.

I just have a textbook and a notepad and 'get on with it' working through chapter by chapter. I've noticed that a lot of girls seem to employ these overly-complicated revision techniques that include timetables, mind-maps, colour-coding and diagrams.

Us guys have a simple system: note-taking/reading with anymore than 2 hours+ revision resulting in a masturbatory reward.

Yeah I notice that too. I think it's a complete waste of time really. Best just to "get on with it" as you say.

My boyfriend and I have completely different revision strategies. i usually spends a long, LONG time writing notes covering EVERYTHING which look nice and are well arranged and organised. I start quite a few weeks ebfore the exams in order to get them finished and I plan on starting to make notes in the next couple of weeks for my exams in summer. I then spend hours rewriting and rereading over everything.

My boyfriend however usuaully does a few days before the exam job. He writes everything down once and it seems to sink in! It's very annoying, as although he spends a lot less time to me revuising and says he can't do it, he still does amazing, gets the highest grades and if we did the same subjects would probably beat me lol.

I dunno if he's better at revising than me, or if I am better than him. It's just different styles ans techniques. What works for him woudn't work for him, and vice versa.

Yeah, because they don't have as much fun. Guys have way too many better things to do than revise, like sports, games, the sexy times, porn, the alone sexy times with your hand, going to the gym, the alone sexy times with your other hand...the list is endless

i dont think there are any general sort of universally applicable rules for genders when it comes to work, i dont think either gender is more clever, or organised than the other
