Hi, I've just had me eyes retested and my prescription was increased to -1.25 in the right, and -1.75 in the left. Does this mean I should wear the specs all the time? I don't really want to cos I'm so used to not wearing them and I feel a tad self conscious with them on..however I don't really want my eyes to get worse or fall down any holes I would have been able to see.

Can you see clearly without your glasses on? Or do you have to squint at stuff to see it properly?

I'm a major squinter...I found this method of pressing below your eyes which kind of helps because it decreases your point of vision!

eh? do you think that waering glasses will make your eyes worse? this is a myth and a load of BS btw. if your eyes are going to continue to change they will do so regardless of whether you wear your glasses or not.

if you need to wear your glasses then wear them. if your eyesight is clear enough with out them then don't.
couldn't of put it better myself

Well I thought that the less often I wore them, the more my eyes would adjust without them. I'm a keen surfer/skiier and a dependency on glasses would be irritating...

Dunno...I just have some kind of aversion to them...contacts at the moment aren't biodegradeable, and I'm not overkeen on the idea of chucking a pair out every day or month. Plus, I'm not obsessed with vanity, and I don't overly mind wearing them, I just wondered what other people would do in my position. I sometimes wish I wore them all the time, cos recognising people from a wee distance is impossible, and nearly always embarrassing...

Then you clearly know what you've got to do - start wearing your glasses!! It's not rocket science.

Contact lenses more or less contain 60% water, so I'm not really sure why you have issues with wearing disposable lenses. It's not like they're going to end up on landfill.. and if they did, what difference would a few contact lenses make?!

I was in the same situation as you. I used to just carry them around and wear them when I needed them but now I just wear them all the time. I would try wearing them constantly for a while and see how you feel and I wold get some contacts that you can use for when you do sports and stuff.
