Tokyo is statistically the most expensive city in the world. Osaka is the second most expensive city in the world. So I would have thought it is Japan, but there are also very cheap rural areas so overall as a country it's not that expensive. Overall I'd say Switzerland is the most expensive.

Cheapest is zimbabwe I'm guessing :dontknow:

it depends how you class it. singapore from what i know has one of the highest tax rates in the world. and i know Andorra is a particularly expensive place to live

i think the topper may well be iceland though. their heating is cheap, but food importation is a huge cost, as is general living, house prices etc.

Yeah it hurts, a pint of lager in France will cost you anywhere between €3.50 and €5.00, yet in the supermarkets it's €0.30 per pint.

Switzerland is pretty expensive, but average salaries are pretty high, there are very generous tax allowances for many things, and tax in general is relatively low compared to the UK. So actually it about balances out when you take everything into account.

There are definitely more expensive countries.
