    Hampstead and Islington are quite nice and beautiful places

    I would avoid places like Brixton etc...

    first advice id don't live near the imperial (ie kensington) unless you have money to burn. You can actually live in the student areas of central London WC1 and NW1 quite reasonabley for London, without wasting money, look for places near Euston, Russell square and Holborn, epscially as you are close to everything as well as British library, student unions, shops etc etc. They are really nice places And travel to Imperial is quick and easy
