Hi, bit of a random thread to go on somewhere that seems to be predominantly prospective student :P but hey, I'll still try!

I'm trying to book a restaurant for a 21st birthday party of 20. We're having a murder mystery evening so it should be lots of fun (i.e. people in costumes playing different roles - hence they should be able to move around and mingle fairly easily at the restaurant) I can't think of where we should go!

    Basically it needs to be:

Good Food! (preferaboy something different, not italian but I'll still consider)
Setting: Preferably buffet (there are like 3 of these in the whole of camrbidge from what I can gather) but if not, somewhere spacious where we all will have room to move around and socialise (You know how you go into restaurants with a party and end up just talking to the person sitting next to you? It's not conducive to murder mystery evening!)
    Fairly cheap.

Somewhere like Agora would be good (fits in with the theme of the evening - the only problem with them is that their room was too small!) But I found both Varsity and Anatolia to be more expensive with less nice food.

Any ideas? I'm willing to compromise obviously....

If you're wiling to make the trek, there's two buffet restaurants right next to each other on Hills road, in the Cineworld complex. Both are pretty big and serve decent food. The Chinese place has a bit of a dated decor though. A buffet at both costs around 12 quid, though they may offer a discount given that you'll be a party of 20.

I'm sorry to hijack your thread but I was thinking about booking Varsity for my MPhil graduation in May. Is it not worth it?

I'd go to 22 chesterton road, only ever heard good things, though pricey.
