    Basically, what the title says. What kind of qualifications etc. do you need to become a detective in the UK?

    Be a police officer for at least 2 years, then take some exams. The only specific qualifications you need are ones that you would need for the police anyway.

    To have watched all 33 episodes of Inspector Morse.

    Generally in the police force you "work your way" up the ranks, and there is a 2 year probationary "in uniform" period".
