What you've got to remember is that you have STILL bought a pc anyway. How much did you pay for what you're on now? Bet you could have bought something that blows the PS3 out of the water for the same price or a little more. THIS is what people forget.
i have a laptop, cost about 700 quid, but won't even run Medieval Total War 2 properly.
I know I could have a pretty good desktop for that price, but I need a laptop for uni.

Jebus £700 on a laptop and it can't evn run Medieval 2 well either it has a monsterous CPU with a crappy GPU or you've been had.

of course Console's are better when it comes to graphics but for gaming the best games are multiplayer, so that means that the PC has to win...

it's decent enough, but the graphics card is **** - upgrading to a better one would have been cheap, but my parents didn't...

it runs med II, but the battle scenes are horrifically slow

Silly thread really, MMO/RPG/FPS/RTS for PC. And Fighting/Sports/TPS/(probaly Adventure too) for console.

So PC in general for me but consoles are better at some genres. The stupid thing is to play an FPS on a console, it's like trying to sesh FIFA using a keyboard.

PCs clearly have better graphics, however what I've always wanted to know was whether the graphical difference was actually worth the price. I plan on getting a 24" iMac which packs a HD4850 and an Intel i7, however even seems rather pointless if the only graphical enhancements I will notice are some shrubbery and improved physics calculations.

    .....

The price that the Mac charges you...no.

If however you go with a M$ based system that doesn't have the overpriced apple tag to it, yes yes it is worth it.

Those pictures aren't from amazingly graphically intense games, don't forget that....MW2 isnt a particularly amazing game graphically IMO...

Don't forget 2010 is supposedly a good year for gaming...and also a year where consoles will not only be destroyed in all but fighting and sport (not racing) games...

This alone shows why it's far more worth it getting a PC and why PC graphics are better:

Indeed, probem is though, whilst Crysis is clearly the pinnacle of technical graphical performance I still think titles like Uncharted 2 and Killzone 2 hold their own next to it. PS3 developers continue to provide the kind of optimization impossible on the PC due to multiple configurations, in some cases the differences are becoming harder to notice. Crysis still looks awesome though, and I heard they made some changes in warhead which makes it far more friendly with higher/max performances.

The iMac is actually the best quality all in one for the price range, the only equivalents I think are made by HP and Acer. The HP all in one is said to be absolute ********.

Well do keep in mind Killzone 2 and Uncharted 2 are both 2 years newer than Crysis.

And, more importantly, don't forget that console games will never ever have mods...PC games however mostly will (even DX: IW which had no SDK released) do.

Mods greatly increase a games longevity, I mean there are 5, 6, 7, even 10 year old games that still have a community, around them.

But yeah don't forget to factor in the mods, that's always an aspect that alot of people forget and it's a shame since it adds so much (even graphically).

WRT iMac....honestly idk but I wouldn't touch prebuilt with a 10 ft clown pole personally....to each their own though.

If you're talking spec wise then there are many specialist PC companies that make PC's solely with gaming in mind that would blow an iMac out of the water, that and pre-built which will both give you a better price/performance ratio as they don't come with the Cupertino premium.

    Which do you prefer/

Me personally i prefer the console PS3, as you dont need to upgrade for the same HD graphics.
I used to be strictly console only, but a few years ago I started playing PC games. I built a gaming PC since then, but I still prefer my console for the UI experience.

I've never had a real gaming PC, always had consoles and I think that suits me better as I fell PCs are for hardcore gamers and all that.

But if I had time and money, I think I could get into pc gaming.

PC is better for all genres except driving and mortal kombat like fighting games. Add a steering wheel or a controller and it's better for those as well (GRID + logitech G25 is better than playing it on 360)

    Reasons:

    1. Better controls: Mouse and keyboard is far more accurate and versatile than a controller.
    2. Better graphics capabilities: higher possible resolutions, more AA and AF etc...
    3. Free multiplayer (dedicated servers with the exception of MW2 (which has now been cracked anyway))
    4. Mods
    5. More mature community/player base IMO
    6. Games are a bit more adult oriented than some console offerings.
    7. Don't have to play against 14 year old americans calling everyone "fag" and "gay" over voice chat.
    8. Cheaper overall cost. (Trust me, it is. If you would like an explanation just ask)
    9. More competitive gaming is available (if that floats your boat)

pc gaming isnt cheaper, if you want eye candy and frame rates smoothness on console 200-400 pound

pc you want eye candy and the same smooth frame rates 6000 pound and i mean a seriously kick ass pc for gaming

so it seems to me 300 pound is less than 6000 pound for an alienware, wouldent you say del1507 or am i being a complete idiot.
