completing square watch

1. Express f(x) in the form

I presume I meant to be completing the square on this?
so;

the correct answer is

Can someone on show me were I am going wrong? Thanks!
2. well you should be able to spot that x^2 + 2x + 1 is just (x + 1)^2

Erm... you have only f(x)=2x^2+4x+2
I have no idea why you did the -1^2+1 thing.
4. Whwn you complete the square you should have We take away two since we multiply the (x+1)^2 bracket by 2, giving us a constant term of 2.
