Lemon juice and vodka ?

Has anyone ever used lemon juice mixed with vodka to lighten their hair. I read that adding the vodka makes the solution less acidic and so less damaging to hair.
My hair used to be really blonde but over the years it has sorta gone mousey coloured although the sun does bring out the blonde more in summer.
I want to try the lemon juice/vodka thing but how are you supposed to do it? Do you just pour it on and then sit in the sun or what?
Thanks for any replies.

Dunno, but surely acid + alcohol will just make an ester - don't know what the dying properties of this will be? (Dodgy A-Level Chem going on here)

Jus squeeze a lemon into your hair and go out in the sun (When it comes out)

have never heard of using vodka. but i know ppl who use lemon juice to help lighten their hair. you just use frshly squeezed lemon juice and comb it through your hair, then sit in the sun for an afternoon. it usually takes a couple of sessions to see any noticeable difference. also it makes your hair very brittle, therefore it is essential to use a deep conditioner afterwards. alternatively try Sun In, it's a spray which works on similar priniciples but with greater effects than the lemon juice.
hope that helped

Have you tried it? Does it look OK or sorta blotchy?

from what i've seen it looks ok as long as you comb it through your hair properly.

Thanks Phoebe. I'll have a look for Sun In. Is it expensive?

Whats wrong with peroxide!?
Sounds like a waste of vodka to me.

The acids in lemon juice and ethanol won't react at room temperature, btw.

it bleaches your hair, rather than just lightening it!

 I can think of much better things to do with vodka!

Yep I'd try sun-in, I think it comes in a spray so it's easier to distribute evenly, that said when my mate did it, it was about 4 years ago so it might have changed by now!

Just use lemon oil and sit in the sun..it looks fairly natural as it doesn't change too much but it does work if you stay out for a while.

Sun in can go wrong very easily and often looks pretty fake and awful (from friends experience..I've never used it).
Don't know about hair, but my italian cousin makes this greatdrink called limoncello with very pure vodka and lemon juice. It knocks you out after a while though..

If your want lighter hair dye it. Much better for your hair than putting lemon juice on it all the time.

I'd say replace the lemon juice with apple juice, mix with vodka and drink the lot. In no time, you won't care what colour your hair is.

Buy some sun in or i know this sounds a bit shocking but if u go to a hairdressers and explain the situation as if by magic they can make you blonde again!
