Well i got a letter from one of my university choices yesterday (Leicester) with a cover sheet saying I have been given an offer and will be notified through UCAS shortly but then the letter spirals into details about visiting days to see the University so it seems like its a round robin letter and the letter also contained separate literature (a campus map and details about my course (politics)). I haven't got an update on my UCAS yet so I was just wondering is it normal for the University to send a letter before ucas confirmation because it just seems abit weird that a computerized system like UCAS is slower at updating than the time it took my letter to arrive. Thanks.

Well, all mine sent me an acknowloedgement letter first. But when I got an offer from Loughborough, they sent me a letter via post before changing my UCAS. It took like 3/4 days for it to go on UCAS :> So dont worry too much, and plan your open day vist :> ~~

It took my offer from nottingham 1 week to show on ucas after i recieved my letter. It is just a way of the uni letting you know so you dont have to worry - it is normal

Yeah same hapened to me from Leicester. Just wait a few days and you'll get more stuff through the post and your offer will be on track. It's normal, they have just sent you a letter before they have informed UCAS of their decision.
