    I just noticed this:

    BRITs Album of 30 Years
Coldplay - A Rush of Blood to the Head
    Dido - No Angel
Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms
    Duffy - Rockferry
    Keane - Hopes & Fears
Oasis - (What’s the Story) Morning Glory?
Phil Collins - No Jacket Required
    Sade - Diamond Life
    The Verve - Urban Hymns
    Travis - The Man Who

The people at the Brits had thirty years worth of Albums to choose from, yet they could only write up this sorry list.

Come on! Why is Dido's album, No Angel, nominated as one of the greatest Albums of the past Three decades!?

    I'm truly baffled.

I don't really listen to that much music these days as it all sounds quite samey and immature, even the 'underground' or 'alternative' stuff.
Whatever pleases you I suppose , while most of those nominations aren't my thing I do know about them because I probably enjoy music more than you do.
But if you don't listen to much music these days why would you be posting on the Brit Awards thread o.O

Friendly Fires, Bruce Springsteen, Florence and the Machine and La Roux are the only acts which should rightfully be on there.

If you are unaware of some of the artists you've bolded, then it's more of an indication of the narrowness of musical knowledge.

Friendly Fires, Norah Jones and Ladyhawke are all very good artists. There's a lot of **** there, sure, but some of them are quite good.

There's got to have been better British albums in the last 30 years than that, surely?

It sold over sixteen million copies worldwide and went to No. One in dozens of countries. It's one of the better albums on that list, though it is quite a **** list.

How can you not know who La Roux, Mika or Duffy etc. are?? They've been pretty the big in recent years if you follow the charts.. all had a few number 1 singles etc.

But I agree also that putting best album of the past 30 years as a category which serious nominees include Duffy???! 30 YEARS!!! By next year no one will even remmeber who Duffy is for God's sake. If you want to put some modern artists in there at least do it properly and put Amy Winehouse's critically acclaimed album 'Back to Black' in there, rather than Duffy who is just a copycat.

    Other things:
    * Replace Pixie Lott with Little Boots as she's better and writes her own songs, plays instruments etc. Instead of just using her looks and singing badly in another record label imitation of Amy Winehouse.

    * Also how can JLS be a breakthrough act? They are famous through a competition.

    * Annoying that there's no International Group category as I think Black Eyed Peas deserve to win that one this year.

    * I think Temper Trap deserve to feature in critics choices.

    * Surprisingly The Saturdays don't feature once, which I'm very happy about considering these are the sort of awards which bands like this usually get.

    * No Alicia Keys or Katy Perry in International Female? Odd.

    * N-Dubz probably should feature in the British group category this year

Well that's quite a grim selection, I hope Friendly Fires, Florence and Bat for Lashes win something though. Especially BFL, Natasha Khan is glorious.. oh, and Bruce Springsteen for international male. The album of 30 years choices are just.. :lolwut:

Well, if this award is based solely on Record sales, then they should change the name of the award to "Brit's highest selling Album of the past three decades."

It may be a long name, but at least it's accurate.

In my opinion, the award should be less about Record sales.

Yeah, I agree with a lot of that, I just think that it was actually a very good album. Although, not the best in the last thirty years.

    Oh ok, sorry, my bad!
I do still prefer Little Boots though and think she's a better live singer and more talented.

Who the F' are all these people!? And Isn't Mika from Libya or somewhere???

I really do despair as these truly terrible awards.
Are you some sort of Philistine !? How old are you ? Do you live under a ROCK ?
And Mika is half-Lebanese and Lebanon is not even in the same continent as Libya, genius ¬¬
