Could the MOBO music awards be perceived as being racist? Watch

The MOBO music awards (Music of black origin) is an annual music awards ceremony celebrating celebrating black artists in the music industry. The nature of this ceremony is never questioned, but can you imagine if there was an awards ceremony to celebrate music of white origin? Surely this would be classed as being racist as black musicians are being discriminated, therefore why isn't the MOBO's which clearly discriminates white musicians? Does racism only count one way?

    Hi there,

Out of curiosity, could I ask why you posted your question in this forum? Nothing wrong, but we seem to get a lot of non-Wiki related posts here (including this one) and am interested to find out what's the cause.

    Please do let me know

How does the MOBO's discriminate against white musicians? You do realise that the award is open to musicians of any race?

Of course it isn't racist. It would be racist if only black people were allowed to win this award - but of course, anyone can. It's just celebrating a particular genre of music, which happens to have been of Black Origin.

If you had a MOWO awards they'd call you a Nazi; so, yes, it is racist . . . but of course you can't call black people racists because that would be racist.

If music of white origin was in the minority, and most genres were of other origins, so that mowo never won other awards then you could start a mowo awards.

But there isn't, so a separate awards show is quite logical.

It's nice to see some sense.

Every year when the MOBO's is looming this question crops up time and time again . . .
