Most cities have dangerous areas, so it'll be a problem wherever you are.

It's just a case of being sensible enough to not get yourself into situations where you could easily become a victim.

FFS! Manchester is just as safe as anywhere.

1) I've lived in Manchester for 21 years (all my life)
2) I've never been a victim of crime
3) I often walk alone regually in the city centre at night
4) If you use your common sence you will be fine.

I go clubbing nearly every week or more and I have never never seen any trouble in any of the clubs I go into. You only get trouble in the scally clubs but you keep away from them.

As for gang wars well if they won't harm you unless you owe them money as simple as that.

There are a lot of muggings in the fallowfield area but its the main student area its like that in any student place.

The picture was taken on a cloudy day. It is sunny in Manchester a lot, and it dosn't rain anymore than any other city (check out the MET office stastisics).

Check out all the pictures just not the first page. I am working on a much better site than btw, I have one done in ASP using paging but its not ready yet for public viewing due to the amount of bugs.

There is a lot of nice countryside very near to Manchester as well. I am 20 mins from the city centre buy bus and also 10 minutes walk from the local countryside (the Mersey Valley)

There are rough parts of Manchester (Moss Side is not that rough btw) but you just avoid them. Don't let silly stereotypes put you off visiting an exellent city. Also Manchester is the fastest growing toursit destination in the UK and one of the fast growing ones in Europe.

We have all the well known shops, Selfridges (we have two!), Harvey Nicolls etc. The arndale is also the biggest city shopping centre in Europe and will be the biggest shopping centre in the UK by the time all the work has finsihed on it. The trafford centre is also very big, it makes the Meadow Hall seem tiny.

Also because Manchester has the biggest student campus in Europe (Owens Campus) which is shared by Manchester University, UMIST and Manchester Met (all next to each other) you have the biggest student population in Europe. So in terms of night life its great. A lot of the clubs you can get in for £2 too. Then there is the music well I Manchester's music speaks for itself quite simply.
I like those pictures, I see them in real about every week. Urbis is such a weird building, but quite cool - all made out of glass. Have you been in?

They aren't very attractive.

I heard from my friends England is 1 of the saftest place in the world.I want go 2 Manchester cause i love manchester united. do u have some tips abt manchester 4 me? Thanks:wink:

I might go now the £5 admision charge is being scrapped. I am not sure I like the sound of that glass lift though because of my virtigo.

On the subject of buildings did you hear about that tower block they are building on Deansgate? It will the be the second tallest building in the UK, and the tallest residential building in Europe. It will be almost twice as tall as the CIS building! The building will also house a 5 star Hilton Hotel.

My above reply was about URBIS btw. (the lift bit)

Yes Manchester has its scallies but so do all big cities. It is so easy to avoid the scallies though if you use your common sence. Most scallies are harmless anyway, they are just ugly pratts that like to copy.

Well, it's not the safest place in the world...put it that way.

Tips :-
-don't look scallies in the eye.
-look strong, even if you're not
-don't carry too much cash around on you
-don't wonder round in the dark yourself

It's not really that bad, only if you're really safety-conscious.
So, anyway, Manchester is a cool place may I add. There's loads of shops, good for us girlies. And for the boys- there is Old Trafford and plenty of pubs.

No, I've not heard about that. I like the CIS, I go there every year. It's quite a popular place. It was where pop idol was held.

I always look scallies in their eyes, I just laugh at them!
OK I look strong
I never take my debit card out when I am going out clubbing
I wonder round at night during myself, its save in the area I live though and the city centre is also safe because its so busy.

I wondered round salford at night once, that was a little bit scary but I was fine.
