madonna- papa don't preach...pretty good, a couple weeks later and it would have been chris de burgh "lady in red"- that would have been very upsetting
I know what you mean about Chris De Burgh, I was born on the 4th of august. And I love that Madonna song.

Sad thing is I was actually due on the 22nd of july....which makes it worse....

any dream will do - jason donovan :p:
I guess everyone was born into a period of awful music then...
Pop music is much worse now. So what are kids going to say in 10 years time? My number one was somebody called Michelle McManus! Mine was N-Dubz! No mines Tinchy Stryder! Dizzie Rascal!

At least the 80s could produce some friggin music compared to now.

KC and the Sunshine Band "Give It Up" - woohoo!

And for those even more curious I found a link with details of every pop chart which is interesting to see what the entire top 75 looked like on your birthdays!

Sad to see a few arrogant musical snobs earlier in this thread ripping into a gem like "Something's Gotten Hold of My Heart", why? Just because it's not a load of pretentious landfill indie tosh like the Crappyophonics?

I've never even heard of my one  Jackie Wilson - Reet Petite

I was actually born a few weeks prematurely, but it still would have been #1 if I hadn't been (I think I should have been born on Jan 18th 1987 or something, but I was actually born on Dec 28th 1986 ). If I'd been born just another couple of weeks earlier, it would have been Europe - The Final Countdown. Gutted.
