    There was a diagram of a car with a force of 4200n but it also had 1000n friction while it was accelerating. The weight of the car was 1600kg.

    What is the acceleration?

    so was it 3200 /1600 or 4200/1600?
    I went for 3200 therefore 2, did i get caught out?

    Resultant force = 4200 - 1000N
    Mass = 1600kg
    F=ma

    Looks like you were right. 2 m/s/s
