I don't know about you, but when I first had proper sex education in my last years at primary school, I don't recall being particularly surprised by any of the things I learnt. But I also don't remember my parents telling me about it, or my friends. I have no idea how I found out about sex, or how old I was when I realised! I was wondering if any of you remember how you found out about it all?

Now you mention it, it probably was TV for me too. I just can't remember ever being, like, shocked by it or anything. I remember being creeped out that my parents have done it though

I just always knew about it to be honest. My parents never skirted around the issue of where my baby brother had come from (I was two when he was born).

I'll never forget going downstairs early one weekend morning when I was about 7 and hearing my parents having sex though (I live in a completely different part of my house to my parents, so I'd been spared hearing anything before that day). Despite knowing about sex, it absolutely horrified me at the time (not least because my knowledge of sex was mostly academic, ie you have sex in order to have children and I thought it meant my parents were going to have another baby!). That's when I think I realised that it wasn't just done in order to have children.

I think it was when I was six, because my mum was pregnant with my youngest brother. My other brother (who was four at the time) asked how people get pregnant. She actually told us.

Though he got a bit confused and scared - he thought the guy had to unscrew his penis and take it off to put it into the woman. This still makes me laugh even now, 12 years later.
