# How many marks would i drop if.... watch

1. There was a proof by induction question - it had the matrix 1 2
0 1

First question: find m^2 and m^3 (4)
Second question: assume a pattern for m^n (1)
Third question: prove by induction that your assumption is correct in ii) (4)
4th question: there is a transformation using the matrix 1 m^10
1 0
write out fully what this transformation is

Ok basically - i found m^2 but m^3 incorrectly and thus i made a wrong assumption in the second part and proved the wrong thing by induction and of course got the transformation wrong....
would i drop every single mark on this question?
2. No, you should still get one or two if you got m^2 correct. I think you will also get some of the marks for the proof by induction and transformation if you applied them correctly to your incorrect m^3 matrix.
3. You should get 1 or 2 for m^2.
Perhaps 2 for a correct method or proof by induction.
