I heard that Holloway was pretty quiet, that there's a few pubs in Egham and a few events run by the student union, but not alot. I heard that you have to go to Windsor or Staines for a proper night out, but then you'll have to get taxis back and the cost might rack up...

I can probably tell you a bit about RHUL since I live in the area and my best friend has just finished studying there I've heard the union is ok, also on Egham Hill opposite the uni there are a few studenty pubs like 'The Monkeys Forehead' which do pub quizzes and things. Egham itself has a few pubs and then you've got Staines which has a Wetherspoons, a few bars (the town hall, que pasa, Baroosh, slug and lettuce etc) and then a few general pubs (The hob specialises in rock music and local bands). Baroosh and Que Pasa are where people go to have a dance and they're both usually heaving. Town Hall is popular too. Staines is quite chavvy but on a Friday/Saturday night it's no different to anywhere else really, mainstream chart music mostly. You can definitely get buses from Egham to Staines but not sure how late they run, a taxi would be around a fiver max or you could just walk it as a group, it's not far! If you want to go to a club then Windsor is nearest, it has Liquid (two rooms, usually the main room and a cheese/alternative room), a clubby bar called Vanilla and then some other places like Chicagos, a few Wetherspoons, Ha! Ha! Bar etc. A taxi would be about £5-10 I reckon.
The next option that we tend to go for is Kingston which has Oceana (really really popular, it has loads of different rooms with different music), Mccluskys (not so popular but still busy) and the new Hippodrome which has opened up but I haven't been to yet. Kingston is about 20-30 mins from Egham, taxis can get quite expensive from there so it's best to take it in turns to drive!

Egham is pretty quiet but my friend had a massive social life due to where we worked having social events every week (massive place where loads of students work), the union, having house parties, going out in Staines/Windsor, just generally going to the cinema, ice skating, bowling, down the pub etc.
